Sorry AMD :(

I will try and help him, as I do any gamer and I will post silly gifs when it is appropriate and not to try and belittle someone unless they bought reference 290's, then i can up my AMD jet engine vid/pics again

At least be honest about it for a change.:D

That was just an example, you made/posted plenty other pics sticking the boot in where's the honesty there?

You chased humbug about looking for 'evidence' a few weeks ago to the point of trawling the net looking for etailers selling a gpu as it wasn't suiting your brand of thought, 29 gpus later and it's 'honest guv' time, np greg at least be consistent-we aren't mugs.

I heard about that, tut tut Greggles.

It's so pretty.

Now how on earth is that keeping up with a titan costing three four times as much? :p

What are you on about? You are proper dragging this thread OT and talking smack, now do yourself a favour and stop getting all bent out of shape and move along. The guy has made the switch and is happy. This is my last comment on the matter.

Good on OP for doing what he thinks is right. Personally I wouldn't care that much about coil whine but for some people it's a real issue and some AMD cards (as well as Nv ones) are definitely a pain when it comes to whine.

I heard about that, tut tut Greggles.

It doesn't keep up with a Titan if you restrict it to the same power and temp limits.

And it doesn't keep up with a Titan if you don't restrict either card to any temp or power limits.

Only way a 290X will beat a Titan is if that Titan is given a hard 250W limit and a hard 80C limit. Remove those and 290X gets left behind. :p

And my Titan would like a meeting with any 290X that doesn't agree.

I'll always remember my old X1800XT that used to whine like mad in some rare scenes.

Incredibly, by far the loudest screech came from when it was playing the "Nvidia - The way its meant to be played" pre-game advert. I always found that funny! Kinda thought it was an evil Nvidia ploy to destroy my card ;)

My 280X also whines a little - ever since mining for a solid month. At least it easily paid for itself :D

You just know Matt's gonna start a new thread now :p:D

And how is all this helping/talking to the OP?
Try And keep On topic guys

Ive got both titans now plugged in and working, silently... nothing more to be said. I spent and sent back thousands of pounds worth of AMD cards all due to coil noise. I was willing to stick it out as I had/have a preference to AMD cards, every since my Hercules 9800XT which was a beast in the day!

The first 2 NV cards I buy, silent.

Draw your own conclusions, im just happy to have 2 silent cards to enjoy :)

Am still not believing this :p 30 GPUs is a lot of money and re-delivery price also. And then all of them 30 GPUs to have whine. Lol

I don't care I find this hard to believe if you want to prove me wrong then go for it.
Until then I find this thread total bs

Prove me wrong and I'll hold me hand up and say sorry. :p

I went from my 7950 to 780 and felt a bit bad because I had been with ATI/AMD for ages. After going through 3 780's that had to go back because of coil whine, I am now back with AMD 290 MSI GE with no coil whine!

I just tested 100 titan blacks and none of them would boot except 1 which then rendered the green screen of death. Sent the whole truck load back and as you can imagine was not happy. Opted to go to the red which I did not want to do as I have always prefered green. I ordered 100 290x's which to my surprise all booted no problem.

Sorry Nvidia I am gonna miss you like crazy

I'm not sure if I've ever had coil whine or not, but recently I had what I thought was that. I don't know if it was my graphics card or my most recent purchase, a new power supply. Anyway, after jiggling things about, it would appear that it has gone. It wasn't that bad, but it was annoying enough for me to want to do something about it. I've not heard a peep out of it for weeks now. It only sprung to mind when I read this thread.
