SOS I cant install the CPU

I dont mind the 1.6ghz clock speed as long as it changes when I need it, so far it's doing fine.

(HYPOTHETICALLY)How would I go about returning the Zalman, how much would it cost me and what could I get in it's place to cool this CPU? Its pretty hot under the hood :S

BTW I thank you again for all your help and support, you guys are great you are really helpful :)

Did you buy the OEM or Retail CPU?

Simply go to OCUK retail site and request a RMA, once you have the number send the Zalman back for a refund. All it costs you is the postage. But I think refund is only available within 10 days of purchase.

Was gonna suggest tuniq tower, but if the zalman won't fit the tuniq probably won't fit either... For something smaller the freezer 7 pro is quite good and cheap.

Just glad it all worked out for you right mate :D Well, pretty right apart from the Zalman :D

Really made work more entertaining today, and the fact that you suceeded in the end just makes it ok to giggle at :)

Congratulations on that first build mate. You have learned the hard way as well, so all the more kudos to you for sticking at it, not giving up. I bet you were real nervous. The first build I did was a PII for my dad. I still remember that gut wrenching feeling when I hit the power switch and nothing happened. Dreadful. Turned out to be a misplaced header connector in the end, and the machine worked fine. Still, for those moments it was as though I was in free-fall.

Well done and congratulations.

Thanks for the help/encouragement/praise guys I appreciate it :)

I think I am just gonna stick with the Zalman and mod the case a little; change the top fan to a blow OUT one and install it on top rather than inside, then flip the Zalman the other way as suggested.

Should be a case of turning the fan around (on the case)...

Yea but the current fan has wires that are faced down under it's support byt on the top it had no suport for wires to sit on, so when I flip it round the wires will be exposed too which I don't want...I'll see how it goes.

If the Heatsink is a bit loose, get some nails or tacks and ask your dad to knock it back into place? That should hold it for the time being.

Other than that I don't know what to suggest? Glue gun? does your dad own a glue gun?
