Commissario
It's been around a very long time, IIRC a minimum of something like 30+ years.how long has this law been around? Where you can’t publish minors name if they commit a offence? Obviously Jon venables and Robert Thompson names got published in the press quickly with mug shots etc in the 90s when they murdered James bulger.
Society is totally messed up now , the damage over the past 10-15 years is irreversible
Venables and Thompson's names were released specifically because of the serious nature of their crimes after a court ruled it was in the public interest, it's not in the public interest to name every under 18 year old criminal's name so the law states they don't by default.
This is nothing new, and the chances are if the person in question is 17 then at some point their name will be officially released given the nature of this crime but at the moment the standard under 18 rule is likely to apply.
