Spanish Football 2011-2012

Make that 4 goals for the little master...my word what a stonker of a game Messi has been having tonight...literally took apart Valencia systematically.

Like i said hes a class above everyone else...untouchable and unstoppable.

Xavi 5-1 makes you wrong lol;)

Not really. Messi is obviously going to be the highest scorer in the team, but last year they were all banging them in, this year it's been a lot leaner for everyone else (although Xavi is having a good a scoring season as he's ever had).

Also Barca have been pretty good in most of their home games, not really unusual. It's the away games they keep failing to produce or get caught out in.

Barca have lost something, its a mixture of teams cluing up to them and they aren't as deadly as other years. But then again when you set the bar as high as barca have anything less does tend to show.

Disagree, imo its down to injuries and needless tinkering with players positions and formations.

A front three of Villa, Messi, Pedro was, and is, better then Cesc, Messi, Sanchez

Injuries leave them with no choice though

Is it not a combination of the two?

A lot of sides in Spain have learnt to 'deal' with Barcelona better then in previous seasons and Barcelona have had to 'tinker' a lot more then in previous seasons.

I wouldn't say they've gone backwards, they've perhaps gone stale.

Real Madrid have improved and are tearing sides apart, but still can't over come Barcelona.

Regardless of them not winning La Liga this season (can't see them overturning the deficit) I still don't think anyone will beat them in the CL and winning that back to back will be a tremendous achievement.

First thought when I turned on was, Barca in freefall, 1-1 now though. Not really seen how they've played.

Only just saw the replay for the goal aswell, awful cross, tame as crap, terrible defending, one guy just knocked it perfectly in for Messi to have a shot, tidy finish though keeper should have done better.

:D

The drama of it all - Barca in flipping free fall.... I wish this forum allowed swearing because thats the only way to describe you.

5-1 win over Valencia, should have been 7 or 8 at least... yet the magical 2010-11 team only won 2-1.

Only lost twice all season, undefeated at home... romped to a win in Madrid at the BernieBar... still in the Chumps League, romped to a win over Madrid in the Cup.. plus won all the 'friendly' competitions as you put them, just to make you feel better in your argument...

I dare suggest you actually look at the World Club Cup and talk to South Americans, as although Barca who waltzed it 4-0 iirc over Santos may take it lightly, the SA's dont.

Free fall.... AWWW YEAH.

Aside from yet another insulting post, its another post where you simply CAN'T READ.

Did I SAY Barca were in freefall, anywhere? No, I said the first thought when turning on and seeing 1-0 was that, did I say that in our "discussion" in the past week, no, did I say they WERE in freefall, no, do you have an inability to comprehend well, yes, can you do basic maths..... no.

World Club cup..... seriously? You have another epically ridiculous argument, because one group of people take a cup seriously, its a big win? So because Yeovil really really want to win the FA cup, Man Utd beating someone like I dunno, Cardiff, makes the win proof Utd are the bestest team ever?

Here it is for you again, cups don't prove anything, especially cups that are pathetically easy, how seriously the other team takes it doesn't have any relevance at all. Winning one cup one year and not another isn't categorical proof a team is better.

Barca's home form has been great all season, that didn't change tonight, their away form has been dodgey, maybe it will pick up markedly, it still won't change the fact they are having a worse season.

You're like an Arsenal fan, 7-1 against Blackburn.... ohh, they're great again, 2 games later, Wenger fired. One win doesn't change the games that have gone before, were overall Barcelona have been worse.

Madrid's problem against Barca is psychological more than anything at this point. In the league they were unlucky, and in the last Copa Del Ray game, any other week they'd have scored about 4 or 5 in the first half from easy, easy chances, but they fluffed them all. They had Barca on the ropes for nearly all the first half, bossed them, but then Madrid fell asleep once and let Abidal, I think, who never ever scores, get a goal, then Alves scored that unsaveable cracker to make it 2-0. Even then, they still managed to get it back to 2-2 and spent the last 15mins making Barca fans endure squeaky bum time at the Nou, until Busquets did his hand on face trick, so I have a feeling the next time they play (which is in the league at home to Barca), if they can overcome that Federer-against-Nadal type thing that makes them jittery enough to miss stupid chances, and keep their defenders from getting hot-headed for 90mins, they can get the result.

So they are behind in the league, still on to win possibly 6 trophies this season? Yet people seem to think they are on the decline. Awesome.
