Spanish Grand Prix 2010, Circuit de Catalunya - Race 5/19

Was expecting RB to be ahead but not by that much

Good to see MS back up there a bit, although at Rosbergs expense :p

Rubens moaning like normal.

What Alonso is doing is taking his hands off the wheel, for about 1 second at a time. And even when he has no hands on the wheel, his left hand is never more than 2-3 cm away from it.

So both hands off the wheel with the vent closed and adjusting brake balance is perfectly safe according to you?

Start of the race - 180mph ish and he gets a tap from behind with no hands on the wheel... Still perfectly safe?

McLarens and Saubers system doesn't involve taking hands off the wheel.

i cant stand rubens he comes out with such rubish at times and hes never really ever prooved himself anything but a test driver/number 2

i hearby declare that when you stand up to visit the toilet one must state "i'm just going for a rubens"

They need to stop that ferrari system. The first time they saw him doing it they should have warned the team. If he does it tommorow in racing conditions they should be giving him a penalty.

They should give him a penalty if the rules prohibit it. Is there actually a rule governing how many hands you should have on the steering wheel at any given moment?

I don't like the system at all, it seems like a very dangerous way of controlling it. But they can hardly penalise them if there's nothing in the rules. This isn't Mad Max's FIA any more.

When we talk about both hands off the steering wheel - his left hand is never more than a few centimeters away from the wheel and if it makes people feel better, he should place his left thumb on the wheel. Technically, this would mean that he still has a digit on the steering wheel.

Nothing wrong with this, as far as I can see, though we have to wait and see what happens tomorrow during a full race distance. Ferrari may advise Alonso to be more discreet, when taking both hands off the wheel.

As far as I'm aware, there are no rules regarding the driving of the car with both hands off the wheel.

So lets talk about qualifying:

MS
Great to see that he finally has the measure of his team-mate. Lets wait and see how he does during the race, because it was getting painful to see him so consistently getting beat by Rosberg.

RedBulls
On a dry track, I can't remember the last time I saw 1 team so far ahead of the rest of the field. It would be interesting if someone could dig this statistic up. I remember in 1992 Silverstone when Mansell was about 3s clear of the next non-Williams. Perhaps in 2004, Ferrari may have such a gap?

I think McLaren and Ferrari have to hope that the RedBulls have reliability problems or end up taking eachother out. Thius season could be very tough if this sort of gap is maintained. 1s/lap is MASSIVE.

McLarens
Best of the rest. Enough said. Hamilton outqualifying Button - on a dry track, with no extraordinary events, this comes as no suprise. Button really must try and hang on tomorrow, otherwise the Redbulls will have a race of their own, Hamilton will have a race of his own, while Button could be battling with Alonso/MS (3 world champions together).

To be honest, I think if its dry tomorrow, it could be a very boring race, (unless of course Hamilton manages to get himself at the back, in which case expect lots of overtakes). Spain really needs some rain or an artifical track watering system during F1 races.

Sorry, but RBR must be bending/breaking the rules somehow, because their car does not look different at all and they still have this totally imba qualifying advantage - I call foul!

I don't know why but I really dislike Red Bull. There's nothing particularly hateful about them, it's just there isn't really anything to like about them at the same time. They seem very efficient without being interesting.
