Spanish Grand Prix 2016, Catalunya - Race 5/21

Stewards didn't.

Stewards are idiots.

Hamilton goes the wrong way round a pointless bollard during an abandoned qualifying lap, reprimand and points.
Sainz overtakes someone, time penalty and points.
Rosberg obviously brakes a very clear rule and forces a driver off the track, no action.

Wtf?

Oh and don't forget Hamilton being told to reverse in the pit lane, and then getting a reprimand for reversing in the pit lane.

Personally I still believe Rosberg started the move while Hamilton was behind him, to close the door, which is valid. Hamilton still went for the diminishing gap and by the time he got his wing up beside Rosberg he had already ran out of room and needed to start coming off the track as the gap was too small.

Problem is this all happens in milliseconds, maybe Rosberg should have moved back or Hamilton backed out as the chance had gone, but both are committed to what started as perfectly valid moves with no time to change their mind, hence overall a racing incident.

Sounds like no penalties for Rosberg or Hamilton, right decision imo, two aggressive drivers and a racing incident

Exactly, it's funnily enough called racing in F1, but then the fanboys won't like it as they obviously have more knowledge than the stewards..

I can agree with this.

Hamilton needs to calm down on first lap. He's been involved in something on pretty much every first lap this season.

You guys watched the rest of the race, right? Where it was almost impossible to overtake?

And your suggestion is Hamilton should have not bothered to try when the opportunity presented itself? Really? That's your stance?

Rosberg broke a rule. That's clear for all to see. The stewards, for reasons we don't know, have decided not to penalise him for it.

Guys, leave Skeeter alone. He's read most of the rule books remember, he knows a lot more than the clueless stewards who had all the data available.

Theres no point in using logic or reason in this thread mate:p

Not sure I understand this sport... You can close the door on someone, effectively putting them off the track and it's fine. But if you put someone off the track and it's not closing the door - its aggressive and dangerous.

Countless times I've seen someone shut the door on another drive and its "just racing", but with this people are saying it was aggressive?

Megh. Racing incident.

Did a driver force another driver off the track while defending a position on a straight, while at lease part of the front wing of the following driver was alongside the rear wheel of the front driver?

Yes/No?

There's a massive difference between moves in corners, moves in braking zones, and moves on straights, which people are quick to ignore, or simply don't know about.

He also didn't need to go for that gap. Being 43 points behind his best tactic for the race would have been to not risk something like that and wait for a chance to overtake later on in the race. If he felt confident in the car he could have set times that pressured Nico into making a mistake. He has now lost a race in which to close the gap on Nico and is still 43 points behind. Yes, he's still got an old season's worth of races left to get loads of points but he is probably going to run out of parts for his power unit at some point and suffer grid penalties as a result. Who know how much damage might have been caused by today's crash that could affect him for the Monte Carlo GP?

If Lewis doesn't win the title then, unless something else happens later this season, people will point at his unneccessary move at the Spanish Grand Prix as costing him the points with which he could have won the title.

Sit back and wait and pressure him into a pass? Like Kimi did to Max, or Ricciardo did to Vettel?

Its hilarious how quickly people suggest drivers should have not bothered to try and make a pass when it goes wrong. Do you guys just want to see processions? Or perhaps just ever single overtake done with DRS? Maybe they should just give points for qualifying and not bother with the race, that way nobody will make the stupid decision to try and pass someone!

Rosberg was moving over before Hamilton was alongside.

Racing incident.

Stewards agree. End of.

Where does the rule state that leaving room only applys at the start of a move, rather than when the cars are actually alongside?

It's unreasonable to apply the rule given the closing speeds and also given that Hamilton was to the rear left of Rosberg before Rosberg started moving across the the right.

The stewards clearly believe that the rule didn't apply in this situation either.

But that's the way they are told to go round that bollard.

Stop crying so much.

God Hamilton fans are insufferable.

Hahahaha, you're ****ing hilarious mate. Real comedy gold reading your posts.

Indeed, and as an ex racer/marshall myself I can tell you the stewards will have a lot more data available than those of us sitting at home judging the decision. And I also say this as a fan of Lewis.
