Right so this is copy'n'pasted from a message I sent to Steeds on my phone, so excuse the style of writing:
Doc: So when did you first notice it?
Me: well in hindsight I've had it all my life but I guess I only started to really notice it when I leaned out, and despite having a 6 pack, still had a lot of fat on my chest
Goes to examine me.
Doc: well I can see what would need to be done, bit of liposuction here, but I fortunately I can't do it and this is why.
*turns over book*
"Not allowed for bodybuilders or sportsmen to enhance their image"
Me: but I'm not a bodybuilder. Yeah I go to the gym, but that's it.
Doc: I accept that but unfortunately I can't do anything about it because of that. Ill write to your GP with that, and if you both feel you want to take it further and appeal, you can.
Me: has it ever been appealed and granted?
Doc: certainly
Me: is it worth me trying
Doc: if you feel you really want to, then yes.
Can take 2-3 weeks for them to send the letter :/
Obviously I'd already raised the confidence issues etc, having spent a week in Malta and not wanting to take off my top 'cause I'm too self conscious, blah blah blah. But basically it all hinged on the fact I said I go to the gym. Didn't mention if I have dreams to compete or anything, didn't say I even lift weights tbh.
The wording in the guidelines wasn't strictly "to improve their look" but more to alter the way they perceive themselves or something wishy washy. A ridiculous blanket term that completely undermines the efforts of anyone suffering from this condition that keeps themselves in good shape
