SPAZ - Space Pirates and Zombies

Looks great and the feedback seems very positive so I just grabbed a copy from GMG, do I just remove the ' - ' from the serial and keep slapping it into STEAM and hope it activates ?

cheers

Depends how you specced up really. Drones are quite good as they deal with the eggs and smaller zombies quite quickly. Ion Emitters/Leech Beams won't work on the breeder zombies, only the zombified ships. Mass Drivers and Particle Cannons are very effective. Launchers were the ultimate zombie solution (not sure if they still are) since with Boosters you could annihilate everything. Mines could work too if you brawl with them. Bombs might be awkward.

My understanding was that only purchases from other sites before release would be transferred to Steam, but I could be wrong.

Some interesting workings on the effectiveness of boosters here.

Basically states that the only effect of boosters appears to be rate of fire (and as some people mentioned elsewhere, reduced charge-up time) and that an equal size booster reduces RoF by 25%. Smaller boosters than the weapon being amped up are halved each size difference so a Small turret has barely any effect on a Large/Huge weapon. It also shows that the Crawler with 4 Boosters/4 Weapons is the ideal set up. Upping Subsystems to lvl10 can double the RoF increase of boosters which is a massive increase in DPS.

Just got my first huge ship - the Hammerhead I think it is called? Such a difference now - I can easily take out T3 bases and steal the blueprints :)

Have gone for a pure particle cannon, triple turret, cannon booster setup. Pretty effective, especially at killing zombies!

If it has 2 Huge turrets then its the Hammerhead. Its pretty effective at killing everything :p

I'll be going for the Sunspot on my Bombs/Drones/Cloak playthrough and probably the Hammerhead on my Cloak playthrough. With any luck I'll pick up a cloaked damage boosting specialist too and shred everything. I just can't decide on Mass Drivers at very long range or Fusion Beams.

Stable Cloak is awesome. Recloaks so damn fast. Just took out a Right Hook with 2 Gyro's, it never stood a chance.

I've been so tempted to get this off GMG since it's only £7.50.

And I saw those emails from the devs, about giving the guy a key for his friend then giving him another 5 for posting it on reddit. Makes me want to buy it more, strangely enough. :p

Gyros are mega fast and have an uber turn rate and nice HP for their tiny size, but only a single weapon turret :(

Pff, the turret is all they need. No use having 2 front mounted guns and a utility slot when the turret probably has a considerably better hit ratio than all the other guns combined and boosters will just make them run out of energy. They're cheap cannon fodder ships which with an insanely fast recharging cloak that gives them a cloak damage boost and the incredibly move speed (i've given mine a Thruster Engine and even with Stable Cloak they zip around) means they are actually very cost effective.

I dunno about my new Right Hook... the loss of the turrets from the Hound is awkward, even if it is deadly. Problem is with all the beam weapons the damage just vanishes when attacking anything with decent armour... I should really look into Cannons too but I need to put points elsewhere first.

Anyone had any issues with ships being stuck in warp.

just got the game and unlocked the 3rd hanger, but the ship in hanger 1 is always warping but never arrives :(

Do you have 1.001? Sounds like 1 of the things they tried to fix with the hotfix. I had the same yesterday but I'm pretty sure that was down to the Beacon being destroyed between the construction being completed and the ship warping in.

Just done Chapter 2 and got my mothership upgrade (its so necessary just so you can at least hold a decent collection of specialists!). Should make a real difference, lvl6/7/8 in Beams, my damage will go from 125% to 400%, combined with a slightly stronger Cloak and my Right Hook should be doing some serious damage.

I never got on with the right hook, it was not maneoverable enough for me even though it looks good on paper. I ended up using the tug(i think its called) for most of that teir and when i finally got the big brother i stuck with that.... until i got the crawler which is quite frankly rediculously overpowered compared to everything else in that teir :p

I never really found missiles all that useful but thats probably because i didnt upgrade them enough. By the time their armor was down, cannon spam always seemed to work better. That might have changed when zombiecraft without armor entered the scene but by then i didnt really bother with them

I found the sunspot to be the most useful vessel in the final teir as the drones really help out with zombies which are pain to deal with when they keep chasing you. Its especially hard to get your shields back up and running when you lose them late game because of this.

If you have mass drivers the end battle is so easy its not even funny.

This is one of the few games ive played where level upgrades got stronger as you increase in level. It almost encourages you to dump all your points in one skill atleast up to the higher levels

Think thats meant to be the point. Specialising rather than generalising. Each weapon set has upgrades that should let it deal with any situation, Cannons get Particle/Ion Burst and Beam gets Fusion, dunno about Launcher as I've never really used it. Its the same with Armour/Hull/Engine etc., helps to prioritise where your points go.

Thing about the Crawler is its a great ship but Small Beams just aren't that powerful. Cannons they can tear through things but Beams I don't think really possess the damage. I guess I'll have to give it a go anyway, 4 boosters 4 overload emitters. Though losing the range of the Right Hooks beams could be an issue, at least I might be able to deal with enemies chasing me down as I try to escape (damn Ion Burst).

LOVING the endgame at the moment. I know a fair number of people are saying it isn't fun, but I think it is really good :)

Yes :)

Okay, thanks. I'm on chapter 2 at the minute, I think it's chapter 2. It's the one where you have to get the Titan laser I think it is. Nearly finished it.

Oh and what does "Star infrastructure increased" mean?

Posting on my phone so i will have to be brief

Every system has a civilian outpost in it. star infrasructure means that the level of this increases providing more goons/res for exchange and increasing civilian or pirate prescence in missions

Infrastructure = CIV presence in a system.
Security = UTA presence in a system.

And its related to the strength of each side x/3 of each system. Doing missions to improve it makes the side stronger and gives them a bigger base. Doing missions to lower it makes them weaker (though I've only seen 1 mission that lowers strength and thats against the UTA). Blowing up a base lowers it back to 0 and gives them a nice shiny Outpost as a base.

Man the core is a pain in the arse. I swapped the Right Hook for a Crawler (turns out the beams did a good amount of damage after all and had the benefit of turrets) but I have very little shield power thanks to the Cloak and the moment that goes down, any enemy using a Mass Driver tears my ship to pieces and Ion attacks render my Thruster Engine useless :(
Also the Fusion Beam has a pitiful range... I need to get hold of Ion Emitters so I can pin them in place. Have to see how things go once I get hold of the Hammerhead. If its crap for Beams I'll be swapping to Cannons.
