Spec me a CCTV System

If you have Chinese cameras you can patch them to English language but when you do a software update they will return back to Chinese as that's what they think they are. CBXs software changes the firmware to English, so even updating they stay English.

Need more cameras to go with my DS-2CD2632F-I.

I purchased my cam from a uk supplier but looking to buy from China as my cam is over £150 cheaper there. You guys mention getting CBX to help you.

Can I ask why as I thought it was just a matter of changing the firmware or I'm I missing something?

If the cameras you buy have the CH letters in the serial number then it will mean that they are regionally encoded as being from China. Thus if you try and update them with any future firmware update you will get a language mismatch and no update will occur.

If you wish to update the firmware (they usually come with 5.1.6 and as yet there has been only one other newer release) then you will have to use CBX's utility for each of your cameras. This will circumvent the language detection issues and allow the update of the firmware. However how long this continues to work is unsure as Hikvision could put checks in place for his hack to prevent it from working. Also he charges per camera and so the cost does mount up.

There is nothing wrong with the functionality of the cameras as they arrive, in terms of the firmware (apart from the non working face detection) and the update actually removes features from the 5.1.6 version as well as add some others, you can check the release notes.

CBX's utility does a good job and he is most helpful if you should have any issues but it is a cost and you need to decide whether it is worthwhile for the difference that it brings.

Its a case of knowing what he charges per camera and the fact I can claim vat back if ordered here in the uk.

I've noticed the prices of the cams here in the uk have went back up in price. They were £20+ or so cheaper 6 weeks ago.

Has anyone tried use-ip's 'make offer feature they have now?

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the Dome cameras DS-2CD2132 and the DS-2CD2732F? I know the DS-2CD2732F has VF and can take an SD card but a part from that, they are pretty much the same?

Currently have 2 x 2032 and 2 x 2132 cameras monitored with iSpy on a desktop PC but I'm considering buying an HP microserver and using FreeNAS. Would appreciate it if anyone who is using a similar setup could share some advice.

can someone help me spec a system

hikvision poe camera

i want to run this via power line adapters, but was hoping to have a powerline/poe combo

it seems like i might have to go powerline and a poe injector?

also do you need special network cable?

can anyone advise me please

thanks for that, i went for a set of tplink and a poe injector with a HikVision DS-2CD2132-I in the end

its all setup and quite impressed, but i am having problems playing back the recordings

when i play them via the cameras webpage playback the video does not always display

it says "Restoring playback failed. " or "playback finished abnormally. "
video has been recorded

any ideas?

I can't help you with that as all my Hikvision cameras have microSD cards in them but I will be testing a server with one this week.

Are you recording to a NAS or running a server with the Hikvision NVR software?

hi, its going straight to a w7 server from the camera itself, not using any software, only the settings in the camera

edit, is it worth using the client software to view the recordings?

edit 2: installed and setup the client, now perfect

sorry another question

my camera is on 24/7 and i would like the motion detection to be able to mark the recording when motion happens, it seem you cannot do this?

also with the motion settings, how do you get past the problems at night when car headlights trigger motion detection?

You give very little information, without having to second guess, about your set-up or software used. I do not know either how you are recording or what initiates (Camera, client software or NVR) the recordings.

With my Hikvision set-up I can browse for motion detection recordings.

Headlights or the motion of the car passing which activates the motion detection...?

You can have line crossing detection, but never used it myself.

Has anyone got the Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I(S) 2.8-12mm? I want a dome for the front of my house, but the 2132 has just 2 axis of adjustment and I think I'll need the third to get a good angle on the drive (wall mounted). It just a shame it's significantly more expensive.

I already have the 2132 (well, my dad has) and I'm happy with the quality, I just wondered how good the 3-axis adjustment was and the zoom lens. The zoom isn't something I require, but it would be a nice bonus of needing the 3-axis.

I also the bullet version, which is a doddle to direct, but I really wanted a vandal resist dome for the front.

hi,

HikVision DS-2CD2132-I
only using the cameras built in settings
recording to a w7 server
using ivms 4200 client software

when viewing the footage via ivms4200 i cannot search via event only time
i would like the time to display when a event happened (not sure if possible)

i think with this setup you can have either continuous record or event record and not both?

as for the car headlights
cars frequently drive past the house and the light of the headlights reflecting off the ground sets on the motion detect which in-turn sends me a email

if possible i would like it to ignore the headlights but my guess you cannot?

hope that explains it a bit better?

I have a few 2632's and I have the 2732 which I installed at the weekend but it needs the lens adjusted and the focus is way off. I hope to get time tomorrow to see how to adjust the lens and the focus but I see two screw type knobs so they must do that job. This is my first Chinese version so instructions are useless so its a trial and error with regards to doing this.

The 3-axis is very good and easy to do. The Horizontal & Tilt movement is done on a click sequence if you know what I mean so to move it 90 degrees right, you move it 5 clicks etc. The Vertical is adjusted by a small screw on either side that slackens and lets you move the camera up and down to the perfect mm without the set number of clicks.

The bullet is so much easier to install and I haven't had to adjust the focus or the lens as they were perfect for what I wanted but this dome is a different story. Bloody cover has to come off to make an adjustment to the axis and I notice that now I have the vertical axis set for what I want to view, these screws that make the lens/focus adjustment can't be accessed.

I will know better tomorrow if I get the time.

I use sdcard recording but on my camera's, they record 24/7 and also use motion detection during daylight hours because the bloody fly's/rain etc at night makes the motion detection kick in continuously.

The timeline on playback is marked when motion detection is alerted so its great when you can look at yesterdays recording and go straight to the points that had activity.

Yesterday I set up the client software on my server for testing but its recording to disk fine but Playback states no playback file exists but on live feed, I can use the instant playback.

Doesn't seem as easy.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Good luck! ;)

I'm looking at putting together a CCTV system for a small business, they only need 2 cameras, I'd like it to be HD if budget allows. Can I get away with using an old computer (C2Duo sort of thing) and a NAS box rather than buying a dedicated unit?

Thanks
