Hi guys. Does anyone have an opinion on the 5mp vs the 8mp Dahua Tioc turrets that have been recently released?
Ahh, the law of diminishing returns!5MP has the better night image quality. 8MP doesn’t have the same illumination range, night images are more grainy and there are more sparklies under marginal illumination conditions. The 5MP is F1.0 whereas the 8MP is F1.6. That’s a awful lot of extra light through the 5MP lens and you can really see it on the images. You know when they launch a product that is ‘just right’? That’s the 5MP bullet TiOC.
8MP has the better pub bragging rights and because very few people spec them they’re actually not a lot more expensive than the 5MP.
If you can find them the 2MP has the best night picture quality of all of them. But obviously no-one wants 1080P in 2021...
So far so good, no more false alerts on the TiOC when my boiler fires up and creates a plume of moisture in the image!
If you've told Surveillance Station that you only want it to record when it's triggered then that's what it should do. Surveillance station knows where the camera is, because it's seeing it in Live View and doubtless it will record if you tell it to.
My initial reaction was that the time isn't set for any day except Sunday. If you click ALL and set your timer and save it doesn't it come up with all the boxes ticked?
If that's the case, is the IVS actually working? If you turn the flashing lights on, does it flash at you when you walk into the detection zone?
Nope, I have a blank period between 3:30 and now.
And IVS on your other cameras is working?
When you say you have a blank period is it recording 24/7 or only when the camera tells Surveillance Station? If it’s recording 24/7 then all it should do is mark a detection event in the recording so you can find it easily later.
Ahh I thought you had cracked it for a second then. It did record myself popping outside but it is also recording any random motion (boiler fumes occuring at the min too).
Thinking about it, before you mentioned about having it setup as ONVIF I did have it set to do the detection by surveillance station as I did not (for some reason) have the drop down to change it to 'by camera'.
P.S thank you for all your help so far!

Don’t use the menu on the NVR. You need to use the menu on the camera via the web interface. In the camera list there is an internet explorer logo by each camera name. Click on that and you’ll be taken to the camera web interface. Loads more options there!
@Matrix as WJA96 mentioned above. The pics you've quoted me on are from my synology nas which I am using as the NVR so will look different to yours. My posts on #3087 show the menus of the actual camera itself where I set mine up.
Under 'Event' make sure you disable 'video detection' and 'smart motion detection'. Click on 'Smart plan' and click on the light bulb so that the box it is within goes orange (enabled). You can then setup your rule in the 'IVS' menu like in my post #3087. If you want to disable the alarm for now whilst your testing things, uncheck 'audio linkage' on the rule you create. You can leave the 'warning light' on so you know if it's alarming correctly i.e when you go outside and dance around in front of the camera...
P.S I am not expert at this, just a lot of help from WJA96 and a lot of messing around on my own! I still haven't got mine configured exactly how I want it.
