Spec me a CCTV System

Are you able to link me to the seller that you used? I'm after a couple myself and it sounds like you've done your research.

You make it sound like I know what I'm talking about :D ha

I got 2342s from XinRay Store and 2335's from HIK Security Professional Store

Keep an eye on your aliexpress messages as they will message you there with regards to shipping info.

Out of interest did you get stung for import at all? Did you buy them all in one bulk order as separate deliveries?

Im currently using Nest cam pointing out a window. Im moving house shortly and i need to monitor a 30m garden. I was thinking of just getting a couple of outdoor nest cams but priced it up and thought id check for alternatives! Can anyone point me to the best place to buy/research home CCTV? my budget is around £400 bit more bit less depending.

Also, is there such thing as an underwater camera? that could be on the same network?

Am I missing a trick with Hikvision motion detection, have had the cameras set up for 2 weeks now and capture plenty of events. A fair few false alarms but that's a compromise on sensitivity level.

I set off for a ride this morning crossing my drawn area, no problem - recorded. I came back this morning and rode through the very same area but the camera recording wasn't trigged. My rear camera covers the back of the drive which did activate. It's not a small area either and one that regularly captures cars & pedestrians.

The front camera was recording moments before due to changing in cloud covers/light and a bush blowing like the clappers. It did also pick me up a few minutes later walking back round the front to let myself in.

So I'm unsure why the front would have missed me with the rear picking me up seconds later ...

How much would I be looking at for a 3 camera setup to cover the drive, front door and rear of a house? I'd want to have remote viewing available and the ability to store footage from the previous 1-2 weeks.

So two of my aliexpress cams arrived

For best security should I port forward stuff manually on non default ports... Or use hikconnect? Which I believe is for remote access.

Already have ddns so don't need hik to provide that.

If manually, is it just the server port that needs forwarding? 8000 by default from memory (I changed it)

For best security, use a VPN. Using non-default ports is not a security measure.

I'll be honest for most domestic settings, we setup port forwarding and usually use HiDDNS.

For SME+ we tell them to use VPN.

You need to forward all the ports for everything to work.

Download VSPlayer, that will show you the lines and should give you some rough understanding of what's going on.

Thanks

So you do not recommend hikconnect?

When you say all ports, I assume you mean all the ones on the server?? And do not need to do anything with the camera ports?
