Spec me a dehumidifier please?

I saw what appeared to be a good deal on a Daewoo 12l dehumidifier, but the manual only states the max extraction rate at 30c 80% RH. I think manufacturers should list the performance at a realistic indoor temperature or performance at half 6l extraction, and so on, so the consumer can buy with efficiency in mind. All the extraction rates on dehumidifiers I have looked at have declined in performance more rapidly then the Meaco Arete.
Meaco do it at 10c and 20c, and 50, 60, 80% humidity. So I think the decent brands do, cheaper ones try to make it there as good for half the price.

My arete 20l is quite a noisy hum when the compressor is on - makes the 12l sound nearly silent
I have recently purchased a ProBreeze 20L unit and am very surprised at how much louder it is than my 10 year old Inventor 12L unit. It's not necessarily just the compressor, but also the fan on it's lowest speed is still very high. It collects way more water, but it would be nice if it was quieter. Trying to do research online into finding a quieter unit and there's just no concrete info or testing done on these things. It's very frustrating. I'm tempted to send the ProBreeze back, but if I get another brand and it's just as loud, then I might as well keep what I have. It seems there is no manufacturer that puts any kind of sound deadening or anything inside these things.

I just ordered a Meaco 20L (older model) LE dehumidifier. For £20 more would it have been worth getting the arete version for noise reduction purposes? What is the real world difference in noise between both models.

Also does anyone have the 25L version, How is that compared to the 20L version in performance?

I picked up an Arete Two 25L from Argos yesterday, most of it via nectar points and set it up in the back room today. In under six hours, it's nearly half filled the tank and the jeans that Mrs. Feek hung in there from the washing machine about three hours ago are practically dry. That's very impressive.

We got an Ebac 2650e (18L) earlier this year (on offer direct from Ebac for £210 and that is left on smart-mode running on a landing / spare bedroom. I have to empty it about every 4 days which shows how much moisture is about.

We also have a RD12D (not sure what brand) we got back in 2011. That lives downstairs for laundry use but is playing up. The only button that seems to work is to turn it on and it turns off at random. I might try to dismantle the control panel / buttons based on the posts over the last few pages. Are the models with a specific laundry mode worth the extra?

The new meaco 2 has app control for timer functions.

I think it was the big thing missing from the meaco one. And they have this warning against switching the unit on and off via the plug socket for some reason which means you can't use a smart plug.
Does that include start time then? Currently considering options for clothes drying - the current (very old) dehumidifier we have to dry clothes can't be started by timer/smart plug, but does have a run-time timer. We need to be able to start it at 0030 and end it at 0530 to use the Octopus GO cheap times.

Sorry I don't know, don't have one myself. @Feek just bought one - how's the app work?

I remember from when I bought our Ebac, there was one model of Meaco that had a built-in on / off timer

This is the feature that customers really wanted. Not just an off timer, but an on timer, and daily run timer, giving you complete control over when Zambezi turns on or off and allowing you to control your electricity consumption completely.

Want Zambezi to turn on and off at a particular time each day? No problem. Want Zambezi to turn on two hours after you have gone to bed? No problem. Want Zambezi to turn off four hours after you left it to dry the laundry? No problem.

I don't see much point in timers outside of trying to use them on cheap electric.
The cost averages out anyway, on 24/7 is no different to on each day for 4 hours.

Had nothing but trouble with our Meaco DD8L Zambezi Dehumidifier, noisy, always throwing C errors when using the drying function. contacted them serveral times and they just gave us useless info, ie vac the filter turn it off for 30 mins etc... just don't!

How long can i expect a meaco dehumidifier to last? i got the premium one instead of arete not knowing the warranty is 2 years instead of 5 and now im worried and if i return it because ive used it i'll only get a partial return

Several months ago I ordered a Meaco Arete Two 20L but received a 25L instead... !!!

It's certainly effective and we empty the 4.8L tank virtually every 24 hours. However I wouldn't described it as "whisper quiet" like Meaco do on their website. It's more like "a very noisy fridge" but fortunately it lives in our basement hall so that's not much of an issue.

The app is generally fine and I created a schedule to switch the device on in the morning and off in the evening before bedtime.

The humidity sensor reads 8% lower than my Thermpro TP50 monitor but I have no idea which device is the most accurate as neither device make any claims to having been calibrated. (calibrated sensors are generally a lot more expensive).

Unfortunately it's just started to throw an L2 error and then switching off (which is apparently motor related) so I need to get onto Meaco about this.
