Spec me a dehumidifier please?

I bought a Tower 20l dehumidifier. It's not anywhere near as efficient as a Meaco. It draws 320w at 27c 60% RH and 420w at 90% RH (according to a sticker on the unit), which are not ideal stats for my usage. The Meaco Arete 20l draws 216w at 20c 60% RH, which is a relevant stat.
Is it a compressor style unit or desiccant one, might explain the increased power.

Can you post all the info including extraction rates? Atm it doesn't seem to be a fair comparision

We have the MeacoDry Arete® One 25L Dehumidifier / Air Purifier for 12 months now and can't fault it in the slightest. Investment at the time of purchase but the amount of water it manages to extract is impressive.

Got a Meaco Arete 12L and a 20L. Having problems with the 20L screen, had it for just over 12 months, won't switch on sometimes and have to really push the on button hard and move the position of your thumb around a bit to get it on, contacted Meaco, but because I didn't register it and I can't find the receipt for where I bought from, they don't want to know. Other than that, they are very good at what they do.

I just added a 3rd meaco dd8l. 2 in a workshop and garage currently running on smart.plugs work very well. They are about 5 & 10 years old roughly, I've taken one apart to fix it in the past , but expect maybe 10 years max service

The third will be in my wife's studio, it tends to be much colder than the rest of the house, so although the cost per hour will be higher, adding heat into the space as a by product will help.

The ones outside are dd8l.jnr as the ioniser is irrelevant, will be interesting if the inside.one with ioniser is noticeably different.

Have the arete 12l, seems to work quite well.
Been using it upstairs, ordered another for downstairs.
Only consume 136w, so even on a poor sun day, the solar can power it.

I have the exact same thing with the power button. I gave up trying to sort a repair out, they want you to jump through hoops. I recon that is the real reason for the version two probably a common problem.

Is yours the Arete model too? Stripped mine down yesterday. Buttons tested ok on the board, found that by pressing the power button on the membrane, it didn't quite make sufficient contact with the PCB switches, so ended up filing down the screw mounts, so that it had positive contact on the buttons on the switches. Was easy enough to strip down, This is the only photo I took, but you can see the button switches on the board and screw holes, I just filed down the screw mounts. Hope this helps.

Might give it ago. I have to press the power button with my finger nail to get it to work.
Did you follow any instructions or just remove all the screws you could see.

Just found the youtube video again, pretty straightforward, once you've got the top off, you'll see the board with the screws holding it in place, remove it and file the mounts for the screws down, can't really say how much I removed, just kept trying it with the board in place, until it was a pretty positive click.

Love it, so many people would throw it away and buy another.

I saw what appeared to be a good deal on a Daewoo 12l dehumidifier, but the manual only states the max extraction rate at 30c 80% RH. I think manufacturers should list the performance at a realistic indoor temperature or performance at half 6l extraction, and so on, so the consumer can buy with efficiency in mind. All the extraction rates on dehumidifiers I have looked at have declined in performance more rapidly then the Meaco Arete.
