The closed saucepan works for me everytime…
For two people, add half a mug of unrinsed Basmati rice to saucepan.
Add pinch salt and 1.2 mugs of boiling water from a kettle. Cover with lid.
Place on lowest heat setting for twenty minutes. Turn off heat.
Leave covered for 5 minutes.

At the minute Laila Brown Rice and basmati just what ever is cheapest at the local Asian supermarket. Think it's Tilda Pure Basmati at the minute.

has there been no u-turn on world-wide white rice consumption towards brown - less processed/healthier with a nice bite.

OK - sainsburys do Laila Brown (she's on facebook too?) but not much cheaper than Matta at £2/kg, which I'm more curious to try.

I only have a cheapy rice cooker that a friend bought me for christmas but I swear i will never not use one again. Its had so so much use over the last 2 years and the rice is great everytime. I love that i can set it while im working and when ive finished the rice is ready and perfect every time. If anything when i first used mine it shocked me at how badly i had been cooking rice for years

Today I got a lovely Zojirushi NS-TSQ10 directly from Singapore. Made my first batch of rice, took an hour and I actually forgot about it but the keep warm function worked perfectly.

Huge thanks to @Raymond Lin for help locating it in Singapore as well. Next up, I need to get some way to store rice better than just in the bag.

Anyone got any recommendations?
How much is it direct from Singapore?

No idea but I’ve always found white rice to taste so much better than brown so always get white :D
