Spec me something slightly interesting for ~£1.5k

We paid under £1.5k for our Integra Si, granted it wasn't great body work wise but the engine is great. Spent quite a lot on it and now selling for £2.5k with extra wheels and tyres.

Only things ours is missing from the Type R is cams, LSD gearbox and Recaro seats. We should be even on power with the race manifold and exhaust.

They don't though; the Integra Si is equivalent to the Civic VTi, and even quite tatty examples tend to fetch very good money, especially the coupe.

They do, the have been quite a few on Autotrader/Pisonheads/eBay so far this year, in fact on Pistonheads atm the is an Si (auto) that went for £800, a 1.6 thats up for £1200 and a nice Si that went for £1799.

Its more spacious than it looks
It's not, I've been in the back of them, I've owned one - I just can't agree. Not comfortable for normal man sized people unless the front seat people are shorties. Lack of headroom is a factor too (though not as bad as something like an S13, flippin' 'eck I needed a chiropractor after going for a spin in the back of one of those)

what do you mean 'race' manifold?

So, one car on PH (which isn't an Si) and two that have sold in the past. Sorry but for me that does not equate to "easy to find". A 1.8 Mondeo for a £1500 budget is easy to find, an Integra Si simply isn't.

Why would anyone want a 1.5k Impreza or VR4?

The GTi-6 makes a good choice for 1.5K because many parts such as bushes and dampers will have been replaced but on the equivalent Clio 172 this just would not have been done. The 306 is coming out of banger territory whilst the Clio is entering it, if that makes sense.

No, your talking about buying a banger and buying a decent car.

172, is a good choice for 1.5k if thats the kind of car your looking for. Also quicker than the GTi-6?

Not really, no. You'll have to expand on that.

Well I would hope for the money a 306 would have had parts replaced to keep it fresh and worth 1.5k but the early Clio sports are getting that cheap because non essential stuff just isnt getting replaced? Not a dig but you always mention the same theory with cheap BMW's so thats the sort of thing I am thinking.

I don't beleive ever expressing that theory about 1500 quid BMW's. £7k E36 M3's perhaps but this is a world away!

DC Sports 4-1 manifold, as in upgraded from the original and more than Type R spec.

Sorry but no, the JDM B18C in the Type-R is a world apart from the Si engine, they cannot be compared other than that they both feature VTEC

Have you driven both? I have, I had a UKDM and a JDM 98 Spec before the Si.

The difference isn't that great, the Si has 180 bhp as standard, with the full exhaust we must be close to the 190 bhp of the Type R, we're just missing out on the last 500 rpm the Type R cams provide.

I know it's quick because 300 bhp Impreza's struggle to pull away on the straights.

:)
