Spec me something slightly interesting for ~£1.5k

A Corolla could be worth a look, I hear they are as exciting as a Civic Type R?

Someone gave you some pretty good info there, you should take it on board and go drive some cars instead of pretending you know what you're on about

DC Sports 4-1 manifold, as in upgraded from the original and more than Type R spec.

Have you driven both? I have, I had a UKDM and a JDM 98 Spec before the Si.

The difference isn't that great, the Si has 180 bhp as standard, with the full exhaust we must be close to the 190 bhp of the Type R, we're just missing out on the last 500 rpm the Type R cams provide.

I know it's quick because 300 bhp Impreza's struggle to pull away on the straights.

:)

I've owned 2 MB6's with the same engine, one was modded but just breathing mods. I've driven a 96 spec JDM teg on a test drive, I had to get back in my MB6 to drive home and it was extremly dissapointing to drive home, I've been in a couple of UK DC2's and driven one but that was quite some time ago

Are you really 30? I thought Civics were driven by teenagers aspiring to be JDM tyte after watching fast and furious, or by grannies with hair curlers and blue rinse?

Tbh there isn't that much between the Clio and the 306.

The Clio tends to have a better spec (not sure if this is true for the 172 [cruise, xenons?, working A/C]) but I prefer the 306 looks.

Both will handle well on fresh suspension and be about the same speed.

They did do a few GTI-6's on a Y plate but that would be quite rare. The youngest would be 11 years old now.

What you really want is a red 306 Rallye ;)

Problem with MK3 Supras. is that the engine in the UK cars is a bit rubbish compared to the 1JZ available in later Jap spec cars, and their bit of an issue with rusty arches :(.

To avoid those problems you'd have to go with a 2.5 Import and A) There aren't many around and B) They generally aren't going to be available for £1.5k, certainly not with a manual gearbox where prices can go upto £4k for a decent one.

Berger, the 172 has all the spec of the 182 minus CC.

Cruise control or climate control?

They come with decent headlamps as standard?

Awesome in that case.

The aircon working was a 306 joke, it is always broken on them due to a poor pipe design which corrodes and then leaks all the gas. Or a broken compressor.

But its not the same engine.... Same point you're pettling regarding B18cs. Plus the MB6 prob has 100kg more weight, longer gearbox and 11bhp down on the Si.

Our Si wasn't great until we fitted the manifold, the difference is unreal, when stock you don't notice the first vtec change over at 4500 rpm (3 stage vtec) but after it was like a different engine, trust me.

So, one car on PH (which isn't an Si) and two that have sold in the past. Sorry but for me that does not equate to "easy to find". A 1.8 Mondeo for a £1500 budget is easy to find, an Integra Si simply isn't.

Nobody said they were an easy find, in fact I said they don't come up that often, but I also said its due to their rarity (as the Si was never sold in this country) not their value being above the price range.

Also why would the OP be interested in a 1.8 Mondeo when he has been looking at VR-4's? by comparison they have less than half the power, rubbish handling and less space, he would only save mpg which mustn't be a concern if that's the type of car he's looking at.

Er, I think you kind of missed the entire point there.

Erm, ok, so what part about a 1.8 Mondeo being pretty much the opposite of the car the OP has been looking at did I miss? :S

His "point" was that if you search for A Mondeo with a budget of £1500, you will find literally hundreds, if not thousands. Therefore, they are easy to find.

Do the same search for an Integra Si, how many do you find? 3? 5?

The whole post was simply pointing out that "easy to find" is not something you can attribute to a £1500 Integra Si, even less so, one worth owning.

Yeah because all this happened just last week  Nice work on branding all Civic drivers either a teenager or a granny I think stereotypes probably arnt your speciality

But its not the same engine.... Same point you're pettling regarding B18cs. Plus the MB6 prob has 100kg more weight, longer gearbox and 11bhp down on the Si.

Stuartthefish replaced his P9K ECU for a P72 and he had an S80 box, it was only slightly quicker than mine which had breathing mods only, the etc BHP on the Si came from the P72's slightly different map for jap fuel even he admitted the ECU change made no difference and it was the gear box that made the biggest difference

I fitted two different types of manifolds to my B18C4, an OEM JDM DC2-R manifold with 2.5" collecter which I swapped for £500 of Comptech B series manifold, the rest of the system was a Mongoose decat system. Lets put it this way, I never bothered modding a car since, the amount of money I spent for the tiny gains were not worth it and was absolutely nothing like a JDM DC2 Type-R and was in fact a total waste of money

I wondered why Honda even bothered to bring out a Type-R version if the DC2 Si was so good, sounds like they shouldnt have bothered according to OCUK Motors, this place amazes me it really does, "Lets ignore facts for the lulz"

Ah, glad to see that you can see logic now.

Guess we should bump that Corolla T-Sport thread so you can go back on your claims that it's as good as a Civic Type-R?

Whats that got to do with with an Integra Si being as good as a DC2? See what I mean? No facts, just blatent baiting! Bump it all you want if thats how you get your kicks, to me saying something like that is just plain weird!

Oh and by the way, The facelift Corolla T-Sport is just as good as a Civic Type-R :)

I was actually backing you up on the Si vs Type-R. Using the logic of "why else would Honda have bothered" seems pretty compelling for anyone if they choose to use reasoning and logic.

However,

Oh and by the way, The facelift Corolla T-Sport is just as good as a Civic Type-R :)

Facts please, seeing as most motoring publications and journalists disagree strongly with you.
