More than one penalty was waved away. Just what do Celtic have to suffer to get a penalty as today's performance from the officials was nothing short of shocking.

In all fairness Eddie I think McDonald done the right thing if the linesman told him what we all suspect.

Assuming this scenario occured.

Referee awards a penalty after Hooper goes to ground from a 'challenge' from the goalkeeper...

Linesman calls him over, asks why he awarded the penalty.

McDonald says it was for the goalkeeper bringing down the player.

Linesman says that the goalkeeper got a touch to ball, that's correct.

McDonald with the additional information changes his decision.

In all honesty I think he showed great courage in his decision to overturn the penalty award. IF the penalty was awarded due to the goalkeepers 'challenge' in the box then he was correct to overturn it.

No conspiracy there in all honesty.

I thought it was a penalty by Kenneth for his foul on Hooper before the keeper even got involved.

There was also a handball by Severin, and a block on Ki. I also thought it was a foul on Ledley outside the box which gave United the ball for their goal.

Of course the only thing that's huge about Hearts is their debt. ;)

I have no real strong feeling either way about this news, other than to hope it's an auspicious appointment.

Touche, we're well up there with that but I was making no comparisons. It's just that outside The Old Firm you've got to be either wildly optomistic or a bit delusional to call any SPL club "huge".

On the bright side I don't think he can be much worse than who you've had recently, I'm looking forward to some good derby games anyway. :)

Referee had a better view of what happened and immediately points to the spot.

Linesman zips down to the corner flag only to saunter back up in-line with the 18 yard box and call the referee over.

If the linesman saw the keeper get a touch first then why did he immediately head for the corner flag?

The officials where nothing short of incompetent and I'll never believe a word Dallas says as according to him, referees are infallible and never make a mistake unless it's an honest one eh?

Ok Ladies,

Prediciton time for the big game on Sunday.

I`m going for 0-1

It`s reality check time for that team from the East End. ;)

The late great Jock Stein once said 'Only a fool would try to predict the score in an Old Firm game'. So, I'll go for 3-2 :)

I predict a showcase of skilful, one-touch football played out to a jovial crowd of mutually respectful and tolerant, yet fanatical and partisan citizens in a carnival atmosphere and everyone will go home happy having been thoroughly entertained and having made a few new pals along the way and they will regale their families with tales of bravery and showmanship come win lose or draw for ever and ever amen.

Ok so, so far thats all 3 of us going for a Rangers win.

Good stuff.

I reckon Celtic are still favourites for this game with their signings and Rangers being in Europe mid-week. Probably end up 2-1 with a dodgy referee penalty decision or two. ;)

pfft dont you know Celtic only get honest mistakes for them and dodgy decisions againts them? :D

I can see this one being close depending on how we regroup after the midweek game. I suppose the Celtic team have a similar problem about how to wake up after watching Waterloo Road and The Apprentice :D

What other type of mistake is there? Deliberate mistake is an oxymoron, and infabllible but making "honest" mistakes is also an oxymoron.

After the "double yellow, no red" incident at the St. J vs Dundee Utd. game, Dallas said mistakes are easily done, and referees should try to learn from them.

Obviously I hate it when the ref gets something wrong, but everything you said in the above quote is nonsense.

Also, it doesn't just happen to Celtic.

I am not convinced our referees are in good hands with Dallas at the helm.

Neither am I, but he has never claimed refs are infallible.

I personally think that it is getting worse. How many corrections, supsensions given/lifted after the match is done and dusted, have been made so far this season? 3 or 4 I think, its crazy.

Aberdeen 4 Hibernian 2
Hamilton 1 St Johnstone 2
Hearts 3 St Mirren 0
Kilmarnock 1 Inverness CT 2
Motherwell 2 Dundee Utd 1

A fairly good day for football as far as I'm concerned, Hearts managing to string together two wins in a row admittedly against Aberdeen and St Mirren but I'll take it.
