Mark McGhee yesterday blasted rookie Mitch Megginson for ending Aberdeen's unbeaten start to the season.

The raging Dons boss blamed the 18-year-old substitute for the blunder that handed Kilmarnock their injury-time winner at Pittodrie.

McGhee said: "I hope Mitch felt terrible over the weekend. He deserved to because he was complicit in us losing a goal and three points.

"I hope he had sleepless nights staring at the ceiling thinking about the mistake he made that cost us the game.

"When I was a player I used to lie awake in bed agonising if I missed a scoring chance, never mind making a mistake at the other end.

"I want Mitch to be going through a bit of that because if he has, then it means he cares.

"He is a young lad. But as soon as he's out there in the first team he has to expect to be treated the same way as everyone else.

"It's not just Mitch's fault - but if he's made to feel bad about what happened there's more chance he will learn from it.

"He won't be forgiven until I see the next time he plays that he's learned from what happened.

"It 's undone all the good work that was achieved in the first three games so we have to start again.

what do you guys think of these remarks ? seems more than a bit out of order in my opinion.

Bizarre. Maybe McGhee knows the player very well and feels a public rebuke is the best course of action to take? Such stern criticism seems likely to only further erode a young player's confidence though.

Seems very harsh by McGhee, I'm sure he has a reason for doing it but it does make him look like a monumentally insensitive sod when the lad is only young. I'm sure that Mr Megginson is already feeling pretty bad about it but nothing like kicking someone when they're down...

I would imagine McGhee has seen his behaviour afterwards and given him the impression that he wasn't too bothered about it. Not really the attitude you want from your players.

i realy find it hard to think of a situation where this course of action would do any good , hes thrown the lad to the wolves and i cant see this helping your team jokester ?(not to mention his credibility)

McCourt really is amazing at times. Not been a player like him in the SPL. Good win for Celtic, good result for Rangers. On to next week.

he is the best player i have seen in a while, he is to the SPL what Messi is to La Liga and what Robben is to Bundesliga.

He can skip past 4/5 players with ease, he makes it look so easy and then will get injured by a mouse and not play for 6 months. I reckon its due to him being chopped a lot when he was in his youth, he was probably so good players got frustrated and just broke his legs repeatedly until all that is left of them is glass thin.

The Derry Pele pulls off another stunner of a goal as Celtic beat Hearts 3-0.

Only four games into the season and already a six point gap between the Old Firm and the rest.
"the derry pele" haha , he cant last twenty minutes, theres pensioners who have higher fitness levels , seriously haha:D

Tbh i`ve never really seen him play apart from catching his goals on the odd hightlights program.

The lad certainly has some ability but it seems to be his overall graft and input in to the team that the managers can't trust.

Kinda like Kris Boyd but without the goals.

I think McCourt's main problem is that he's been eating out of bins for the last 10 years.

Oi !

i`m not used to laughing along with Celtic fans but that along with the Kirk Broadfoot gag from last season came dangerously close.!

Please stop it and allow me to nurture my hatred. ;)

What hatred would that be McRod?

I'm hoping Paddy can silence a lot of people by doing his regular jink past four players before curling a beautiful shot past the keeper when he plays against Rangers. That would put him on a par with Kris Boyd in Old Firm goals.

I love watching Paddy McCourt. One of the few players who remind you of days gone by - when dribbling and going by people was the name of the game.
