Splatoon - Wii U

Got the game a bit early (Weds from Gameseek, £25!), though I'm not L20 yet. Really, really enjoy playing and my son (4) is addicted, well, as much as we'll let him.

I'm loving the .52 Cal Deco, Custom Jr and Dual Squelcher. Lots of people running around with the Aerospray, which people complain about, but I don't find it overly powerful. My only gripe is the 4 hour wait between map rotations. I wish it was less time, and a 3rd map in rotation would be lovely. Hopefully once the next 3 maps are released, it'll ease this frustration.
 
It annoys me that you have to grind to get the best stuff. I don't have the chance to play for hours every night like a lot of others seem to :(
 
Hit level 20. Last levels are a grind. 30000 between 19-20. Play log says I've played for 21:40. Mostly multiplayer, maybe 1-1:30 of single.

So much fun :).

Getting annoyed by the slots of the high level gear rolling doubles all the time. Dunno if it's done on purpose, but it seems every item I have with 4 slots, will end up with at least 2 slots being the same :(.

Well just had my first bout of unplayable online-play... Would take ages to connect and then stop about a min into the match. Not sure why, connection is good my end. I did notice on a previous game that 1 person had 0 points so not sure if it is just other people disconnecting?

One other thing I have noticed... There doesn't seem to be a benefit to killing people, you get more points for map painting. (I've not done ranked so many it changes there?)
 
Only negative of this... Amiibo (no voicechat is to protect the kiddies from foul language and horrible stuff you get with online Xbox). Why you may ask? Check Jim Sterling's latest Jimquisition video. All will be revealed...
 
The amount of people on ranked battles that go off painting the whole map is stupidly high!!! So annoying!!!

Edit: The two things at the beginning of the game are also annoying! Just let me play god damn it!

It's really strong, efficient at inking too, but doesn't seem too broken for me. Against stronger teams I found the range was quite a hindrance.

I'm gonna give it another go though :p

I think most do it to get their super bar charged up fast, and specials can be really important at the beginning of a match. Some people do spend too much time doing it though.

Range is one of the least important attributes in Splatoon due to the squid movement.

All the best powerups for example are always the squid related ones.
 
I bought the brush weapon earlier, that thing is a lot of fun! a lot more enjoyable than the roller brush, well for me at least! Love this game, can't resist it, and the fact the shops are randomised each day, gives plenty of replayability! Play purely just to buy gear atm, still only level 12, so yet to delve into Ranked or anything like that.
 
Just bought it yesterday, im only level 5 but this game is really growing on me, i like the item customisation. I could say there isn't enough variation in maps but im still learning the current ones.

Is there a nintendo Splatoon group setup?
