We went Daikin at the time since they were one of the first to do more stylish indoor units in various colours along with them being the quietest at the time, useful for bedroom units. I don’t bother with night mode anymore though, auto doesn’t wake me.
We blast ours out for the final hour or so of the EV tariff. For this reason I wouldn’t mount external units on the wall again as they are louder on heating mode in the depth of winter.
We did everything possible to avoid the loft option, luckily it was very easy to duct everything outside.

ah that makes sense, there's room to install the external unit on the ground and external ducting. i'll probably do that instead.
no pump makes sense, one less point of failure at the cost of slightly more eyesore

How long was it from contacting the company to getting AC installed?

I contacted a company and booked the earliest appointment for a quote and it's in December, god knows when the install would be after that.

I'll add my dates I posted in another thread. Not sure what the current lead times are with the same installer.

I ordered 17th June, with an install date of 15th/16th July. Due to supply issues on external units, install moved to 30th/31st.

A week later I put in another order with the same installers for my garage AC, that hasn't arrived yet. Probably arrive next week and installed the week after.

£7k for a Daikin 8kw install...should I get this over the £6.5k Samsung 10k install?

Indoor units are 2.5kw X2 and 2kw X2
Realistically only 1 or 2 units will be on concurrently, so 8kw should modulate down and not cycle as much as a 10kw unit

I was going for the aesthetics with the wall mount and loft ducting, but you guys are right, reliability and sonics are higher up the list

To be honest, wall mounting shouldn't be an issue for sound. They are isolated from the bracket with rubber. The noise from what I can hear is mostly the compressor when it's doing a fair bit of cooling, which will be the same whether on the wall or floor.

Mine is mounted to the wall of our living room, no windows on that side of the house (unless you count my neighbours ensuite).

Should be isolated. Being a stairs it would even less of a concern. Not like you’re bolting it to your bedroom wall with no rubber isolation

When mounting on the ground, you have to count at least 2 reflection surfaces for the purposes of the MCS020a calculation. It could be the difference between a compliant and a non-compliant install. If mounted more than 1m up only 1 surface is counted, assuming there are no perpendicular walls within a metre.

Daikin are supposed to be the rolls Royce my installer does Fujitsu and Daikin. He said really there’s no reason to go Daikin over Fujitsu they’re both very high quality just Daikin is more expensive. He said the Daikin is marginally more efficient in heating mode.

I believe Mitsubishi are also supposed to be very good, I wouldn’t touch Haier with a barge pole.

Fujitsu, Mitsubishi and Daikin are the gold standard for residential heatpumps, AC and ventilation. I can't speak for commercial/industrial products but for residential those are the brands you want if you can afford it

IMO the goat setup for a house is a Mitsubishi Lossnay + Multi Zone Ducted Mitsubishi HVAC system. For multiple reasons installing such a setup is much easier if you do it while building a new house and it's not cheap as you'd be looking at around 10-12k

I'd try and get the install done and dusted by march 2027. After than the 0% vat relief ends and you're liable to pay 5% vat
