***SPOILERS*** Football 11th-13th Dec '10

Because this point last year he had THREE years experience and has got a lot better since then?

People were ready to sell Anderson not so long ago, look how he's performing at the moment. It's very much the cool thing on here to completely rule out the chance of a player improving if they haven't lit the world alight in a couple of years.

isnt Anderson a couple of years younger than Nani though?

Joint top provider with Chris Brunt, scored 1 more than Hernandez, but has scored circa 700minutes more.

He's had a good season but not outstanding, not a huge statistic but, Nani has only scored/assisted against two top half teams if I'm reading it right, Spurs and Liverpool, and the pool assist came when Liverpool sucked balls at the start of the season.

So against top half opposition he's only got 1 goal and 2 assists. So thats 4 goals, 8 assists against the bottom half.

Thats excluding today, he really should have two assist today, penalty and the goal, not sure the goal will actually count as an assist for him.

You said the same regarding Valencia last season, at the end of the day games against the top 9 is naturally going to be harder than the bottom 10 that being said Nani actually has (including tonight) 4 assists and 2 goals against the current top 10

Arsenal's last 11 games in all competitions against Manchester United and Chelsea

Won = 0
Drawn = 1
Lost = 10
Goals For = 5
Goals Against = 23

:eek: I'm not sure how true that is but i'm pretty sure tottenham have a better record against united/chelsea than us!

Nani has FOUR years experiece, why do you think he will get any better?

Erm because there's been clear as day improvement over the past 12 months alone hence why he's now first choice for both club and country

Only 3 goals further off at 1/2 point in the Championship.....so only 6 off ....at best ... in May......sorry Utd should be aiming higher imo

Sorry but that doesn't even make sense

everyone is so keen on stats;

Whats Nani's goals to shots ratio in the same games?

Sorry but he is still ***** given his experience in the team

There's no point trying to sway him. He's got a huge mental block that says. 'Nani bad, Won Cl in 2008 because of Hargreaves' and he can't work his way past it. Luckily Sir Alex doesn't need to ever listen to him and Nani will continue to be among the first names on our team sheet and will seemingly keep being one of the most effective players in the league.

They've equalled that this season so yeah I'm pretty sure they do :p

meh, guess so!

They may have a better record against Chelsea than Arsenal but you both do **** against us :D

It's easy when you pay off the refs, isn't it? :p

Not looking forward to stoke at home this weekend. Based on our current home form, anything could happen!

Yes, there will be that natural change, but he's at a title competitive side, and frankly should be doing better, and we're both wrong. Its 2 goals 3 assists, and 4 assists if the one for the goal counted tonight. I forgot Bolton as my mind doesn't automatically click "they're top ten" when I see the name yet :p

He's scored one a piece against Blackburn, West Ham, West Brom, Spurs and Bolton, Brom/Ham/blackburn are bottom half of the table.

Yes we've been utterly and woefully uncompetitive with the top for, for 5 years. In almost every season if we won all our games against the top four, we would have either won, or been RIGHT up there for winning the title, the difference between winning against the top 4, and not, changes who holds the title.

If we'd won the 4 games against Chelsea/Utd last year, the table would have finished Arsenal 1st, 87 points, Chelsea 2nd, 80 points, Utd 3rd, 79 points.

If we'd drawn it would have been, Chelsea 82 points, Utd 81, Arsenal 79 and at least very close.

AS it was, it was Chelsea 86, Utd 85, Arsenal 75, 10 points off the top and not really "in it" at any stage. We weren't even close to competive in those games.

The games against the top 4 change the title race completely, and we've been utterly useless for years against the top 4.

Rubbish, Nasri is first choice for country, because France suspended half the team and half the team have refused to play for France again. Frances team is a list of "whose left over", of which to be fair Nasri is fairly high up.

For Arsenal, last season he was a solid performer who helped defensively, offensively and was very good for 80mins + a game.

This season he's had 3-4 top notch games, where in the box he's deadly and he's been useless for 85mins + doing not much of anything.

ONE part of his game has improved a lot the rest of his game has gone down the drain completely. Without getting the ball in the box tonight, he was useless, his passing was hopeless tonight, movement, workrate, defensively no help at all, didn't bring others into the game, horrible performance.

Portugal are good but not great, and only reason he is 1st choice is because Ronny is more central now, not because of Nani's definitive skill level

Point of view is everything

just because he is 4 off top scorer now means nowt, and compared to his amounts of attemps I dont think either shots or crosses accounts for much

Eh? I'm talking about Nani not Nasri you tool :p

why the hell did you switch subjects halfway through the post?

Consdering that was United, and they could have absolutely demolished us like previous games, I actually can't say too much bad about us tonight. The defence didn't let us down, they were surprisingly solid. It was just the midfield's inability to hold onto the ball and create anything that limited us. Like a lot of games this season, too many attempts to play ridiculous through balls past five opposition players.

A fully fit Fabregas, van Persie, and a Nasri who ISN'T PLAYED ON THE ****ING WING might well have done a lot better.

He's not crap but, look at what Malouda got last year, even truly crap players can do better :p

Seriously though, Utd are about the only team to half perform well this year in the top , 6 maybe. Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Spurs have been throwing away points left right and centre, and Nani wastes a LOT of chances, realistically, in the strongest team in the league he really SHOULD be doing better, that doesn't mean he's doing badly, just, in the top team in the league, who are underperforming, whats fair, the least of the top 6, maybe he should have more goals and assists than players at teams doing less well?

Its not unexpected when the team that wins the title(or a top 2-3 team) has the highest goal scorer, or the higest assist maker, or both, and the most clean sheets, etc, etc. In essence he's being judged by a harder scales because of the team/position he's in, he should be getting more assists than a midtable player.

See how he's done at the end of the season, and with a striker ahead of him who can hit a barn door.

Did anyone else love one of the commentators talking about Rooney's fitness and how still running in the 80th minute is some dramatic change that signals a clear change in his form, like being a bit fat was holding him back and thats fixed so his form is fixed, then he misses a penalty :p

Ignoring the fact he was a bit fat and had his best scoring season ever last season and I've never seen him struggle to still be running in the 90th minute.
