**SPOILERS** Football 26th Feb - 2nd Mar 2011

Maybe not as good but he will fill the void at UTD. He is 2 years younger, getting better and better every game. He will be a huge star in a few years time. Don't see him staying at UTD for ever. Can see RM snapping him up for 40+ million.
I've never bookmarked a post, but this is going in there, with a reminder to rehash it in two years time.

Nani. Forty million. Lol.

I'm not saying he should have jumped over his leg or anything like that, I'm saying that Zhirkov adjusted where he chose to step to take into account Smalling's leg, thus forcing Smalling to 'impede' him.

I'm kind of amazed the Rooney one isn't burned into your memory, I remember clearly he was already flying to the floor when he dragged his leg into Almunia.

I don't think Zhirkov adjusted anything. Watching the replay from behind the goal he runs straight onto the ball and his path didn't change at all.

For what it's worth, although I think it was more of a pen than not, I still don't think it's clear cut but not for the reason you say. Imo, Smalling didn't make a challenge, his leg was just left outstretched from the previous challenge and because of that, it could be argued that it was just a 'coming together' rather than a trip.

From the officials point of view though, it was very difficult not to give.

If there are any Chelsea fans still here, can you please tell me why Bosingwa didn't start? Ivanovic was utterly rubbish against Nani, and you only have to look at how quiet the latter was once he switched flanks to see how easily a proper full back dealt with him.

Tbf to Ivanovic, he's been more than decent for Chelsea when he's played RB for them in the past and imo, Bosingwa's ****. Overrated offensively and poor defensively.

Oh and he's got a monobrow which is inexcusable.

People associate the formative Nani of a few years ago with the modern Nani and assume he's still a hollow show-pony. He's been one of our best performers this season and has pulled off some amazing games and goals. He's up there in a lot of stats for the Premier League as a whole.

I don't even need to bring up the Andy Carroll scale to justify a £25-30 million price tag (40 is a bit high admittedly).

Nani's had a good season but he's been useless in the last two games unfortunately.

Ok. I really don't get people claiming the penalty was soft/dive whatever. It was a stonewall penalty - yes smalling couldn't really get out the way but it was still a definite penalty. Again, anyone complaining about vidic's second yellow clearly isn't thinking straight.

Luiz was lucky not to get a second yellow, but he's still young and a bit eager. Great finish from him though. Just needs a little more experience and he'll be a truly great player.

We only looked a little weak in midfield - gave the ball away a few times and didn't track back to help ivanovic with rooney/nani/evra overlapping on the left. Ashley Cole had a good game as always, could have got forward more but defended fantastically.

Overall fantastic result to take us back into 4th and now man u have big pressure from arsenal in the title race. :)

edit: it's also easy to forget the torres disallowed goal but both players were fouling each other so in some games that would have been allowed...

Yes, yes, Andy Carroll cost £35m. And Rafael van der Vaart cost £8m. We're all well aware of the ridiculous highs and lows of the transfer market, but that doesn't provide any insight into future dealings, and you know that.

Real Madrid are a team with a reputation for paying way over the odds for the very best players, not a semi-talented larker who still thinks he's a level above what he actually is and insists on shooting at goal as if to prove his point. I could quite easily see them throwing £100m or something crazy for Rooney, but £40m for Nani? Any amount for Nani? Really?

Nah.

Guys I find it extremely disrespectful you keep calling David Luiz, Luiz. It's like calling Roberto Carlos just Carlos.

Please stop it.

Thanks

Just to let you all know I am here and yes, I am reading.

I just can't put my thoughts down because:

1. It's only going to provide ammunition for the Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool supporters currently giving each other reach-arounds.
2. It might well get me banned.

Just thought i'd post before I get accused of being a "plastic" supporter mind.

Hahaha, yes, please, keep it coming.

We're going to get £25m for Denilson, you know.

Why not though  He's surely one of the best wingers in the world right now, I think he's at the top of the EPL assist chart and damn near the top of the scoring chart. And that is playing for a team that doesn't have any strikers whose strength is in the air. Imagine if he played for a team with a good target man.

Nah.
Nani: 10 goals and 13 assists in 33 games (3 subs).

"£50+ million please, Mr. Guardiola" Boy: 9 goals and 12 assists in 30 games (6 subs).

Why are those kind of figures laughable for Nani again?

Okay btsn. :p

Nani is not underrated atm - he's improved A LOT since going to man u. Given the rules coming in, I don't think we'll be seeing £40mil transfers in the near future though...
