Stalker 2

Really surprised you guys are still fully hyped for this. Cannot see it being anything but average due to having to work on consoles and the issues that have sadly plagued the dev team due to the war with Russia.

I think this is the first game I've seen that recommends 32gb of RAM. I'm going to wait for some performance benchmarks to be released before buying.

why is everyone buying cdkeys and pretending they live in countries they don;t in order to get a realistic price.
if we didn't buy them instead they might sort out the ridiculous regional pricing rip off....

I'm in 2 minds about not buying it at all if there's really no preload on a 160gb game

must be a 3-5hour download for most people? I heard the game has no DRM literally easier to pirate it than buy it if that's true....

wonder how many people will cancel the download on steam and refund the game, when they realise they can just download alternatively for free and not wait much longer.

no preload in 2024 = no sense, whats the average internet speed like 100bit? so about 4 hours

released at 4pm, playable about 9pm...

I prefer having all my games in one place and easily get any update/patches/DLC
For £32 I would rather not have the hassle of the pirate version, not have to have a 160GB ISO taking up space
This is coming from somebody who would pirate everything up until about 6-7 years ago.

I'm on 2gb through CityFibre so 160GB takes just over 10 minutes. Pre-load is of no concern :)

Remember it takes longer to decrypt a preload than it does to download it on day of release as it decrypts on realtime. This is the most sensible way to get it for anyone on a 500Mbps connection or faster for games of this size.

I see the CDKeys version for the UK is currently out of stock, so it looks like a direct purchase from Steam or GOG, though that will be more expensive.
I think my system might struggle quite a bit with high settings at 1440p, though I hope to get a new video card in a few months anyway.
If you look at posts 563 and 565 the game can be bought for £32 apparently

I should have said 'could be a bit of a red flag' rather than stating that it is one.

I hope you're correct and it turns out great.
It may be a bit buggy on release, but then it has been delayed a few times so hopefully it's not another Cyberpunk....the devs do seem very passionate about their game though so whatever state the games gets released in I'm pretty confident it will get better with time

I see no reason to alter my usual strategy of never ever buying any game on release and simply waiting for the 50+% off sale, even if this takes a year or two. Not changing this even for Stalker, and Stalker SoC is my number one favourite game of all time.

If this is a massive flop i'm selling my PC, been burned for the final time and just can't take the heartache anymore!

Good on you sir. Not everyone can do that however. I apply that strategy for majority of games i buy, but certain games I really want to play/manage to pre-order on the cheap I pre-order.

I pre-ordered STALKER 2 over a year ago for £25, so already 50% off from some buying it on steam

Gotta love youtube, someong making a video about someone elses video, and reading comments....

10 second video if it were just text jesus christ...

Can we go baack to reviews being posts on the internet that take about 60 seconds to skim read, tather than1 0 minute videos full of waffle waffle gotta stretch it out for the add revenue.

No preload

what game needs 32gb ram?

Going to play it but not buy it. too much weirdness going on. probably worse than starfield

32GB is total system RAM,. because if the game is using say up to 16GB then Windows will always use a large chunk anyway and the last thing anyone wants is Windows paging to disk file which results in stutters during gameplay.

This makes sense as other games that don't make any merits on RAM requirements tend to just stutter away . GSC have specifically said they optimised RAM use for both Xbox and PC so this is likely where.

Nobody doing any modern gaming today at 1440P or above in these higher settings should be on 16GB system RAM anyway.

enjoy you're virus filled stalker2.exe
a family members steam account or family sharing

16GB then Windows will always use a large chunk anyway
12.8gb in use playing cyberpunk maxxed out @4k
although the game does claim you need 24gb ram at 4k which was probably accurate when it launched.

I doubt any Game can make windows use more than 16gb unless it has a memory leak.
