Stalker 2

The first patch supposedly is out later today...
Hopefully it’ll fix npcs standing in front of doors that you have to go through to continue the mission (there’s a few).
I had to teleport away or reload a save to get them to move, and shooting them in the face isn’t an option.

As the actress said to the bishop, shooting in the face is always an option.

NPCs being around seems by far the biggest framerate tank in the game - can be running around in the open at 60fps+, go to the Lag Heap and watch a cutscene with 5 NPCs in close proximity and its a slideshow. I don't even even know how you make something tank so badly, maybe they are running the entire AI loop on a single core or something.

I saw a post, it was linked in this thread I think, that said to turn the hair detail down to minimum. I did that and it does *seem* to have helped with crowded areas. I haven’t measured anything or even paid much attention, but it’s worth a try.

Let’s be honest, these are some properly awful haircuts we are talking about, so worth doing anyway.

Skipped about 17 pages of posts! Only got to do a few missions so far and not found any bugs yet. Getting around 100 FPS and I think it looks lovely. Not very far into it but died a lot! Wukong does look a lot better but is a different game. Switching between the two at the mo. I die a lot in that too. I'm not very good at games these days but I still enjoy them, which is the important bit.

Shader compile was rapid this time, its massively showed up my wireless keyboard where I have to press FN for escape to work.... out the prologue now into main game.

Wow people make youtube videos about patch notes you can read in 30seconds?

This week according to the devs

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is getting a first patch during the week to come — both on PC and Xbox.

The following update will include:

Crash Fixes, including:
  • Issues and memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly, particularly around rendering, skeletal meshes, and quest-related cutscenes.
Main Quest Progression Fixes, including:
  • Several bugs blocking the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes.
  • Revision of the main quests (like Visions of Truth or A Minor Incident) to ensure smooth transitions, avoiding rare cases of players not being able to proceed further.
Gameplay & Balance Adjustments, including:
  • Fixing the price of the weapons with upgrades installed compared to their value without attachments.
  • NPCs behavior, including the way they act when lacking a shelter during the Emissions.
Cutscenes & Visual Fixes, including:
  • Rarely missing facial animations, misplaced NPCs, and visual inconsistencies like detached heads and clothes clipping.
  • Quality and stability improvements of the visual effects.
Softlock Fixes, including:
  • Issue where players were unable to close the trade screen after putting ammo in a wrong slot while playing on a gamepad.
User Interface Improvements, including:
  • Quest notifications now showed correctly during dialogues.
  • Corrected texts and missing interaction prompts.
Noted to be addressed in future updates:
  • Analogue sticks dead zones bugfixes.
  • A-Life system bugfixes.

Definitely something weird going on with the hair setting.
Had a settlement slideshow earlier, dropped the hair setting to low and my FPS went back up to 50, saved and reloaded and my FPS went to 80.

Oh and framegen isn't working in cutscenes either which won't help.

Really enjoying it so far.
I'm about 5-6hrs in, not had any major bugs and it's running nice and smoothly.

First shader compilation took about 3-4 minutes and now it's about 20 seconds each time I load the game

I can see what people mean about the frequent spawns, e.g. bandits regularly reappearing.
No sooner after looting the previous group of bodies, then another series of enemies turns up. Reminds me of the Oblivion Lost mod from years ago.

Mutants are generally way too spongy, IMO; I think I've died to Bloodsuckers and pretty much nothing else.

I'm still really enjoying it, though. I'm taking my time and besides, some days there isn't much time to play for too long anyway.

Earlier at Zalissya, I saw a couple of NPCs standing in each other, which looked quite funny, and yeah, that area is sometimes such a performance hog.

Had my second crash out of 11 hours play, so I don't know if that is less or more than what others are seeing...

Roll on the first patch! :)
