Stalker 2

Developer has revealed why a-life2.0 is broken

They've confirmed that for it to work correctly the radius cone needs to be much wider - which is exactly what that mod does

And we know the mod kills performance and the developers has stated the same thing - they had to pull the radius in otherwise this game had no chance of running on consoles. But unfortunately because the system was designed to work over a large area, when the radius is pulled in, it breaks a bunch of stuff

On the PC there was no harm done to have this as an option in game, to chose the size of the simulation as crude as it is.

It does make sense after seeing what some of the mods to resolve the system have revealed. Just looking back at the old games, you could run with Anomaly/Misery mods and have simulation distance cranked all the way up, but performance absolutely tanked, even with it being broken down into zones.

Hopefully they keep working at it and can come up with a solution that sits as a nice balance in the middle somewhere, no doubt the modders given enough time will be able to keep digging and maybe figure out something themselves eventually.
Older games were running basically on a single core, zero multitheading...

That's crazy. I've had more CTD's with this game than any other I can remember.

On the plus side I have had pretty much zero stuttering that everyone seems to go on about. Aside from the crashing, it runs really well on my PC.
To be fair, I havnt had a single CTD since the first patch, a lot more stable now. Still getting frequent FPS drops, however periodic reloads seem to mitigate it, a minor inconvenience.
Really impressed with the speed that they are pumping out patches. Tempted to try the mod that increases the "ingame" bubble for AI. However i've got performance in a nice place for the most part and I'd no doubt have to drop settings.

Had a bit of an issue later in game, about 50 hours in. Until this point my issues had been so minor it was nothing I hadn't seen in every other game I've played, was beginning to think I had just got lucky.

Reluctantly used console commands to end a quest that was bugged and start the next. After finishing the quest, it wouldn't start the next after a game restart, it just threw me right back to the quest I had to skip. This skipped quest then wasn't able to be completed because of its relevance to the later completed quest.

I'm guessing now I'll need to do it again. After this 20gb patch that is..

Sorry what is a life? Do I need to download a life ?
download a better a better cpu and more ram, then you get truly appreciate a life..
Why didn't they just call it "A-Live" a system to make the zone feel ALIVE

a-life must be a bad literal translation that makes more sense in Ukraine

Running at 3440x1440 with everything maxed to the max, frame Gen at quality the usual suspects set to zero if they're there (FG, MB, CA)

Running this performance mod:

Everything runs nice and smooth at 100 fps (my monitor limit), 12700K @ 5.1/4.0 with a 4090 locked at upto 0.95v/2700Ghz.

Edit...2700Mhz...mega hurtz!!
