Stalker 2

Just busy I guess, it is the season. :)

Didn't complete it, got to the second area and just lost interest. Didn't feel finished tbh.
Too much TikTok destroyed your attention span just like all the other youngers of today. I hope it gets banned.

finished it
did a fair amount of exploring, didn't do every side mission or every stash but maybe 90%?
around 110 hours all in

pretty good overall, only issue really was the shader cache thing - im sure they will fix it eventually :D

Very stalkery good story / atmosphere fun enough game play, nice game size as well, can mainline the story pretty quick but tons of extra exploration/ side quests and Easter eggs

I really need a handy guide to explain who's who and why I'm fighting someone, then friends with them, then fighting them again.
I had a character come up to me in a cutscene (why do I switch to my pistol that isn't modded and then proceed to enter a room like a noob and get knocked out?) and ask me questions and I'm thinking...."Have we met before? What mission are you on about? I have no idea what way to lean with my answers."

Is it just me?
This is probably the first time I've not followed a story.

I genuinely don't know why I'm in the zone or what the intro with the scanner was all about. I don't really know what the main quest is about.
Looking at it from playing the originals at launch, if you haven't played OG Stalker, you didn't know what you were doing in it either other than you were looking for *something*-go and find it:

Back then there was no game like Stalker, it was the first of it's kind, despite no YT for walkthroughs, guides, tips etc, apart from looking up walkthroughs if you struggled.

Whether you explore or progress the story line, you should get an idea.

Follow the quest and questions will be answered, it can be rushed, but the endgame can wait or each area explored, depends if it sucks you in enough, or you may not get it at all.

For me, then and now, that's what makes Stalker-Stalker!

I didn't know what was happening either, explored a lot, progressed and loved it-it's my no.1 on PC.

Yup, played a lot of OG Stalker too. Loved the starting area revisit in this game.
Still doesn't help that none of the characters stick in my memory (apart form a few that were really different) but everyone else are just people in survival gear that looks really similar.

Don't get me wrong, still loving the game.

It also doesn't help that someone called Richter treats me differently every time we meet. We're like brothers at one time then complete strangers the next. Almost like the game was written out of order or something.

Loving the game, but the last patch has given me memory leaks when I'm using my locker box, the game freezes and when I check task manager its using 28GB of my available 32GB ram.

Would love to get into this game. I love it once I'm in but the 10 minutes wait for shader compliation every single time I launch the game is just simply beyond stupid and not something that should exist in a game in 2024, I had quicker loading times on my C64.
None of the fixes have worked for me so far so I'm just going to have to stop playing it.....again....

With the new patch, if you close the game during shader compilation, the next time it will skip it. I’ve not noticed any performance difference on my system.

On Dark Times now, will probably finish this over the next week or so.

Shouldnt be that slow regarding your signature specs.

For example, on the latest build, it takes around 30 secs to compile the shaders for me.

Weird as it only takes around 30 seconds for me after the recent patches. Have you got the latest graphics drivers?
