Stalker 2

Mine crashed on shaders so I restated and got the message that it would skip shaders, game loaded and played fine for well over an hour.

18hrs in, no crashes and no issue with shader compilation. Shader comp seems less than 15 seconds, I've not timed it but it doesn't take any longer than splash screens tend to take on other games

I think it’s playable and have 120 hours played on it with only minor issues. If you want a very good atmospheric open world shooter then go for it.

I see some complaints about weight limits, stamina and the “pointless stashes”. But those are part of the reason it’s so atmospheric. Take only the ammo and supplies you think your need, have an A to B goal and use the stashes en route between those two point to restock ammo and supplies. That’s what the lore of the stalker games are, stashes are not sources of super guns and loads of “koupons”. They are places stalkers use to keep spare medkits, ammo on their more typical routes.

If you play this like some open world looter game, you are doing it wrong.

Not trying to set anyone off honest, old gamer I've dipped in on every patch and probably played 20hrs+ and cannot get into this, just seems incredibly tedious. I wanted to like it, I had more fun messing with GFX settings and mods than playing took me back to early PC days. Too much faffing with items, seem to spend more time preparing to go outside messing around with your box than actually outside doing anything. Run for a few seconds, drink drink, takes almost as long as recovery, now I can run for 6 seconds instead of 3 if that, repeat, daft considering the vast expanses to cover gets really boring. Constantly warding off radiation, white dots are annoying collect more booze, hardly any fighting, interminable waffle.

Well I love it. I'm fairly bad at games but still enjoy playing them. I've got 20 plus hours and I don't think I'm very far into it yet. I think this will give me a lot of entertainment for the price of 25 quid. Admittedly I don't play it constantly for hours at a time and just dip in and out through the days. I also have a very demanding cat and partner to share my time with and I've also just discoverered how brilliant Slow Horses is.

Not very impressed with the quest in the swamps, the emission and the Chimaera, looks like i will have to go back to an old save

Have installed a few mods, the one getting rid of the shaders loading is a massive win

Had a bug yesterday where a tower guard in a tower i needed to get to to progress was completely invincible. Spent ages trying to kill him thinking he was some boss figure, then saw a tip online to simply walk 200m away and he despawned.

I must be lucky, I've been playing what must be well over 100hrs now been playing it on both the PC and Laptop with very different specs. Still having zero issues since they updated the game several times.

Starting to run out of stuff to do, I've got all the legendary weapons and artifacts, done all the sidequests that I'm aware of. I'm not a 100% type person, I wont bother with the generic stashes. Next storyline mission is the point of no return endgame sequence. Think I'll I'll probably finish it off tonight. I'll probably wait for DLC or significant mods to release before starting a fresh playthrough. I'd say I've more than had my money worth out of STALKER 2 easily the best game I've played in many years.

In which case you need to be exploring the vast expanses to find anamolies and artifacts which will help you with your radiation exposure, stamina and weight carrying abilities !!!!

It’s not for everyone of course. Not trying to set you off with this advice, but everything you just moaned about is happening because you are doing the opposite of what the game is about.

- Carrying to much, so you have reduced stamina. Just because you have 500 ammo in your stash does not mean you have to carry it all.
- Constantly running everywhere
- Not hunting for and using the right artefacts

Get artefacts the have maximum radiation protection, get a few strong weight artefacts and a max endurance artefacts. Then you massively increase your carry weight and stamina recovery.

I didn't play the original game.

I'm also somewhat confused by the opening section. It appears something catastrophic happened, I'm in possession of a bit of stuff that was manufactured as a result of it, and I was given a gizmo (scanner) into which this item was placed and I had to charge it up using an anomaly. But after recharge the scanner is now swiped, and I guess my ultimate primary objective is to get it back. I'm not sure what the significance is of the thing...is it just potential worth a crazy amount to the character ?

Also unsure should I be whipping out my detector every single time I come across a yellow pool of gunk, as that is where the tutorial artefact was found. If so that's gonna be a lot of detecting, as there are a lot of them around.

But it does appear to be basically, do quests, improve you weapons/suit, find stashes, and then as your weaps etc improve, the enemies/scenarios get more difficult.

I only started playing yesterday, locked up doing the initial shader compile, has locked-up once since at the same place. Also, I managed to miss the "search mug body" objective, and mug was nowhere to be found afterwards, so that kill the main quest, so I had to restart. I'm running the latest patched/patched version.

I find it's mostly nighttime, which is a pity as the graphics looks better with good light. And those storms can last a while. I did 3 sleeps and the storm was STILL going !

Also, only for the post above, I had no idea that the artefacts were power-ups or enhancements

Where do you see how many times you died (it'll be a LOT for me).

I'm up to the bit where you battle Faust. I think I might need to reload an earlier save,
as trying to drag my heavy ass around the combat arena isn't much fun while doing this.

I've clocked in around ~75 hours so far, but I am now finding I want to play it less, so perhaps a break is in order.

I've found the stamina system is just killing this game for me. Even buying all the weight saving upgrades/stamina upgrades/drinking enough energy drinks to kill a horse and trying my best to not pick up much it feels poorly balanced and sluggish.

I was enjoying it initially and thought I was a good way through but only about a third it seems. It's got very repetitive, walk through brown forest to generic industrial building, finish generic mission, drag my heavy ass all the way back to base, do next generic mission.

Occasionally shotgun a mutant bullet sponge.

Next mission is 1km away.....nope.
