V-sync doesn't work if your on an ATi card, well it doesn't for me, wether set in game, or forced through the CCC, still off and tearing.
Anyone else fell the Gauss gun is a little too much like a cheat gun?
It's basically a "one shot your way out of trouble" gun
Also I've finally retired by faithful "tide" anti zombie modified vintorez
She'd killed over a 100 stalkers and zombies, and over 150 dogs, boars, bloodsuckers, dwarfs and pseudo giants.

ar3e. I am on a 4890. oh well. It does make the lightening effect rather jaring. Funny how this is the case with an ATI card (but I presume not Nvidia) and this is the only game I have ever seen that has the ATI endorsement at the start.
Just hit the order button on steam for £15 so cant complain at that price if its only average.

She's a few years old now, though I did upgrade the video card.
AMD Athlon X2 4400+
2gb Ram
Radeon 4800
Sad fact is I never managed to complete the second game because of it, I think I got to the red forest and my FPS just took a complete dive

Just got it off steam for £14.99. Seems good but I've only played for about an hour if that. Seems much easier compared to the old ones. Reason I say that is because I have tons of guns ammo and med kits and what not already. Was an emmision and knocked a few guys out so pillaged their corpse's. Any ideas what the game length is like compared to the old ones? Took me about 20 hours or more on the old ones. That wasn't doing everything the games had to offer either.

I'm getting a crew to go to Pripyat with, so far i've got Vano, Sokolov and Zulu. To my knowledge I need Strider. I've spoken to him and basically i've got to get him accepted into the Yanov train station but no one will let him in.
Anyone got any idead or got past this point?

You don't need him you can go with just the 4 of you.
You have to have enough alligence with one faction or the other to get them to send a recruiter, if you remember morgans pda from that deal in the first few missions you need to give that to either duty or freedom then five the duty commanders PDA from the space anomaly to the same faction as well as any other faction quests.
If like me you sold that pda for a quick buck to owl you can;t get enough sway with a faction and can't help him get into yanov.
But if you didn't kill noah (guy who gives you the compass artefact)you can get him to come with you too.

Cheers Tefal, i'll give it a shot in a sec. This is, I don't recall doing a missions that involved a PDA, so far i've stuck to the story missions (I think) and when I got to Noah all he showed me was that teleport thing that got me to Stingray #3 I think, the one near the Snork lair.

Really? go back to the first zone and do more missions then
you've missed out on a huge chunk of the game ^_^The mission is the one where you have to ambush the mercs and bandits during their weapons deal
Ahhh right. What i've done is basically spawned after the intro, spoke to the 1st STALKER i've come across which then sent me to that nut job Noah. I've gone through the teleporter, found the crash site then went into my PDA and set my next objective as another crash site.
Who do I get that ambush mission off mate, is it Noah again?

Hi there. Is it safe to say a Geforce GTS 250 is totally useless for this game?
I've got a 1Gb GTS250 and it's just one long session of suffering whenever I go to play. If the head bob doesn't give me motion sickness, the jerking and stuttering of the screen when I turn left and right will instead.
It's like the whole game is only playing at 15-20fps or something. Is there a command to show the current fps? The original game ran smooth as silk for me
I think I might have to get one of those HD5830's when they come out soon.

nah it's just the guys in the big barge the traders/barkeep/all the stalkers in the bar etc.
How have you managed to get all the way to assembling a team for Pripyat without doing any of the trader etc missions?

Tried turning down some of the lighting settings + the hdao etc?
Just be doing the Stingray missions and that's it. To my knowledge i've attempted no side missions at all. When I went to find out about Stingray #4 in that warehouse thing, I picked up some papers and then can't remember what happened after that. I had to speak to Zulu about gathering a squad to go to Pripyat with and he basically set me on my way, after no less that 6 mouthful's of vintage Vodka lol.
Well I'm running: q6600, 4gb ram, 8800gt
Everything is maxed out @ 1920x1200 except for lighting effects and it's silk smooth

Deffo, can get it for only £15 (promo price) if you have either Clear Sky, or the original SOC through Steam.
I went up to this farm and noticed this stalker walking about like he needed a crap
, then the music kicked in and he opened fire on me, turns out he was a zombie, and then loads of them appeared, was great, thought i was playing Resi Evil Yes, you have to leave it on Generic Software, got the same here with a Xonar, not sure why you can't get the Dx10.1 option though.
