US: Star Trek: Discovery

How did they go from *basic* 1+1=2 messages to being able to express complex and detailed ideologies through some flashing dots in the space of an hour?

Dont even know why I watch this drivel anymore.

Lgbtq+ chick sent an 'algorithm'

That was a truly wtf moment when the president told Saru to send a message and she launched into an eloquent speech after spending a few episodes struggling to say "hello".

I know I shouldn't focus on some stuff, but there's a lot of large black women in power in the future

Then the admiral turns up with a mixed family - why are they focusing on human relationships? I'd rather see more human /alien relationships, this is meant to be sci-fi after all.

The Stacey Abrams agenda! Alright as much as she is on the right side of politics (aka the good guys in the real world), not quite sure why she's featured - Unless the message is a sublumial Stacey Abrams for president?

Anyway, I paid no attention to that sort of thing or the woe is me stories of certain characters. The 10c were pretty epic the mission was pretty visually satisfying and the ending pretty acceptable although from a scientific point of view I think they missed a few marks.

1: The 10c are clearly way beyond Type-2 on the Kardashev scale. In this universe the Federation and mankind is closer to Type 2, whilst the 10c must be at least a Type 3 civilisation. They can clearly harness the power of an entire galaxy and then some.

2: As a result, any such species would be on a level of intelligence for it to simply be impossible to forget that sentient beings might live in pockets of space they are mining. It simply would not happen as it defies all logic, and at that kind of level, logic and fundamental laws of the current universe dictate everything that is, was and will be. Plus, the Federation ships all leave behind warp core trails which would easily be detected by the 10c.

3: I find it hard to believe that the 10c were unable to catch Book's ship, they can build a machine that mines an entire section of a galaxy in an instant, yet can't catch a tiny primitive ship?!

Still, entertaining and visually quite stunning and in some areas quite moving as a finale.

Jesus wept, they don't have waffle on about their ******* feelings and emotions. And that black doctor is creepy as hell, what's the deal with his constant smiling? He looks like a ******* serial killer.

And everyone is gay!

I thought it was one of the better episodes of the season with my biggest gripe being the backtrack on Book, plus his punishment seemed weak.

It was better but still bloody awful. What on earth happened to the show. If it's like this next season will stop cause this constant gender and feelings narrative is getting old. It's not ST. We still don't know anyone on the deck. New crew members just suddenly appear and disappear. Really poor.

Just like I did with the walking dead I stopped watching this, and after a couple of missed episodes cannot say I missed out too much.
The list of nauseating characters in Discovery is just too annoying. With the walking dead it was the stupid plot, with this the storyline could have been ok,
if not for the way it was delivered.

Jeez, how on earth I managed to get through that season I'll never know. Can anyone name the bridge crew? Who are the two women at the front? Four years in and I still haven't a clue.

I see we had the whole "I didn't have a great relationship with XYZ speech again"

If this didn't have Star Trek in it's name I'd have given up years ago.

Star Trek The 'I have issues and need to speak to anyone who will listen' Generation. I don't care! Seriously, I couldn't give a monkeys.

Let's just hope the new one is half decent.

Got coerced into watching the final episode last night by the missus, as she didn't want me at the back of the room on the laptop with the light on...

Yegods, what an absolute dire effort. Gene Roddenberry must be turning in his grave.

Just so woke, PC, rainbow coloured and the entire last 20 minutes was more sappy than the lyrics on a Justin Hayward solo album.

Really is 60 minutes of my life I'm not going to get back.

Prior to that we had watched Picard which was quite reasonable Trek, albeit more than a little derivative of Star Trek IV.

I actually fell asleep twice during the last episode. and that was twice during the same section. dozed off then had to rewind then dozed off again on the same bit lol.

I like how they can now suddenly knock up a video screen to nearly any part of the ship and spy on someone.

if you never saw this ship from the outside how big would you assume it is?

the set of this series must be tiny

cal it discovery but what are they discovering? supposed to be a science ship? maybe if the series was about encountering alien races, travelling around the universe into the unknown, maybe make holodecks great again.

the people who made this show never watched the old star trek, they didn't make it for people who like star trek. that much is obvious.

Holywood has gone so woke it'll be going broke next..
e.g. Disney: https://twitter.com/realchrisrufo/status/1508912865293619202

I enjoyed the first two seasons, a bit woke (put off some people, I tend to look beyond that) but it was only season 3 that tipped the scales for me.. and this season, I've only made it 3 episodes in and the obvious pushing of genders and feelings which have led to the storyline being so weak it's literally unwatchable now..

Is it any surprise that in a YouGuv US Poll the media distortion is so bad that people in the US think 21% of the population are Trans (It's actually <1%), 41% of people are black (It's actually 12%) and 30% are gay or lesbian (it's actually 3%)..

I have already removed it from my backlog..
