US: Star Trek: Discovery

Is it just me or is about 80% of the bridge crew now female?

Its pretty terrible at the moment. I really cant for the life of me understand why they think its a good tactical or diplomatic move to have a significant amount of the heads of the federation, including the president, go on a ship to make first contact. What utter dross.. lol! Its almost as much car crash tv as TWD.

I'm still amazed the writers have managed to stretch this one-and-done episode storyline to an entire season

Still, two episodes to go and still time for the crew to get vaporised by the Ten-C/DMA ...

Just looked for the next episode teaser on YouTube and all the comments are really praising it. I guess maybe we're just out of date. I much prefer things being resolved and moving on from episode to episode. There's still plenty of room for the twee LGBTWTFBBQ+ stuff whilst getting stuff done.

That said, they would have to come up with better ideas than a small mystery box eating up planets whilst being powered from outside the galaxy, probably asking too much.

I love the production quality (the away suits are pretty cool) but the story really drags.

How bad is the writing this season. Unimaginative and boring. So bad to the point where I literally don't care what happens to them.

We might get to finally meet 10-C this episode, set your phasers to therapy sessions.

You got your wish! And actual language barriers which the Universal translator cannot help with.

Tense and interesting episode - amazing what they can do when they stop focusing on LGBTQ+-xyz? and feelings.

Might have missed but why did they name it '10-C'? The Borg had what I would assume was a nice incremental scheme as 8472 would've been the number of species that had come across/tried to assimilate.

The mission is time critical, the clock is counting down and there is only mere hours until the complete destruction of Earth and a myriad other of our home planets. So why do they all just **** off and start bleating on about their feelings rather than just getting on with the mission at hand?

Not just you and it's not just the 80% female bit either. I'll put it in the politically correct terms... the show is incredibly focused on it's 'inclusiveness' and 'diversity'....

because clearly no body else has any qualifications that suit the task at hand (yes it's daft).... but then they'll likely argue we're just going back the the original star trek approach where Kirk, Spock, Bones and sometimes even Scotty all went on away missions together...
