Star Trek Online

Installed this on the laptop yesterday but it's runs a bit crap.

Now installing it on the PC for the second time as the first time when patching, my son turned off the power at the switch and corrupted the install.

Also hit my 20mb broadband limit so it's now downloading at 500k/s which is going to take ages :(

This game looks really interesting.

How much do you think I would enjoy it not being a star trek fan (loved the new film though)?

I used to be obsessed with star wars and the idea of an mmo of this style seems appealing (eve looks way too hardcore)

Also how much time does the game seem to suck out of peoples lives, is it overly addictive?

Reason I ask is im in my final year of uni with dissy hand in in the near future and can't afford to get as hooked as I did with WoW.

can live with extra hours downtime if it stops all disconnects ... still cant work out why i have to use the EU proxy , although its better than it was it still has some lag/ghosting and disconnect issues

now who got the "KHANNNN" special ability and where is it and how do you use it , not been able to find it yet or the other bonus stuff

They used to bang on about BT and packet shaping on the CO forums when they introduced the proxy originally, it was meant to alleviate the connection problems rather than worsen them. I never experienced it myself and i use BT but it seemed rather a lot of people had problems, probably not all on BT but it's the only ISP that sticks in my memory from it.

C'mon server, get back up so i can work on getting rid of the lollipop shaped excuse for a science vessel.

Cozman what ISP you with?

VirginMedia ... not the only one with the issue aparently and lots of BT users have to use the EU proxy too just to get it to connect.

weird issue affects some and not others so could be a router setting or firewall thing , no idea but everything connects with the proxy just suffers from a bit of lag/ghosting and disconnects on loading screens when servers are a tad busy

not a great issue but one of them things thats niggling away at the back of my mind , got a lifetime sub so not like i HAVE to be connected all the time
