The problem is at the moment - fleet permissions are bugged i.e. we cant restrict access to anyone. We dont want it to become over compliacted or to create any drama
- just a little bit of common sense.

Serious now, it revolves mainly around 2 parts of gameplay spaceship and away team. Spaceship is generally anything from a massed fleet action of getting up to 40 ships (always fun) and solo missions which can vary from simply scanning a system as part of exploration duties to escorting people, to battles to chasing off raiders.
Away team is generally a battle on someplace or another where you have to rescue someone or some other story line. Not as fun as space battles but they are actually quite fun when you get into them.
Best part (imo) is the advancement system. You level up as in any other MMO but you assign your skill points to whatever way you want to specialise (im focusing on my ship performance) then at certain stages you go up in rank (generally every 10 levels) different ranks allow you to get different ships.
As you progress you also have your own crew on your ship. You have to level up these guys too and assign them abilites/roles which will help you in the long run. As you advance you can promote them and they can fill in certain roles for you.
Im only level 12 (just got First Lieutenant) but I think the game is pretty damn great. Quite varied though as in any MMO if you really want to boil things down then yes quests do centre on go there kill this, scan this do that blah blah but that is no different to any other MMO. What helps this is that the quests that you do get are quite well put in a storyline so going there and killing this always seems quite interesting (at least to me

I'd recommend the game too, very impressed with it. I wasn't a bit interested based on the design decisions they'd made, but it really seems to have worked. The space combat is great - very straightforward at first glance, but with a lot of depth once you start to get into it.
Ground missions (there are no 'open' ground areas, you beam down to a mission area and that's it) are fast paced and look good. This is the only element I have doubts about, it's mostly go here, shoot this group of bad guys) but some of the storyline missions have been good.
As mentioned above, the levelling system is excellent. Between your character, your ship, and your bridge officers there's loads to keep you occupied.
Finally, it's very, very, very pretty, and oozes star trek atmosphere :

Anyone know if it is possible to turn off your ships shield representation graphics you get around your ship, it’s the only thing in the game that annoys me!

Not yet, but it is something the devs have said they will look into - it has been a request since closed beta.
Surely that is the point of a guild bank? You're hardly going to put BETTER gear in exchange for what you took out.
Captain to admirals quite easily get lt. to cmdr gear as drops, so they can be put in the bank for those levels. The lt to cmdr quite easily get drops for ensign to lt levels etc. You pass the gear downwards. The only ones who might struggle are the capt-admiral levels
Seems pretty straight forward to me...
Also I looked today and the tab is jam packed. What's the level of credits now? I see it says 1.2mil for a new tab.

I just realised today what the game is missing, big time - star trek music. Other than the little signature tune at the character select, there's none of the iconic music from any of the movies / series at all. During the space combat especially, there's some cracking music from the films that could have been used.
I wonder if it's a copyright thing, it's hard to imagine they'd have access to it and not use it.

Agreed - probably a money thing. Would have been great to have more of the Trek soundtrack in.

What rank are you in the fleet?
I noticed there was a music player or something in the game. Did anyone see this from the drop down menu in the top right of the screen?
Yeah I noticed that too, maybe something that is going to get added is more Trek Tunes, or maybe they will get added to the C-Store.... if it is all about the money...

i guess its not so bad. depends how much they would charge
