Star Trek Online

You still playing this JGBR? Much changed recently? Shortly have the season 3 patch there didn't seem to be much going on with STO - and I found the Romulan story arc kind of boring...maybe I have just played this game too much!

Thought the ship combat was fun but now I've levelled up to Vice Admiral I found myself bored again and found the ground combat laggy. Hopefully if/when it goes F2P it'll encourage more changes and the foundry will be bug free.

Does anyone have the latest F2P news for this game or is it still "wait and see"?

Have not renewed STO yet as waiting from them to sort this mess out. Only so many times you can VA a Char

and I'm not sure why im paying for something to then write my own missions.lol

I wonder how Champions is doing as F2P? Cryptic always struck me as being on the greedy end of the F2P spectrum, and I don't think it's done them any favours.

Very well apparently, although, i can't seem to get into the game anymore, the combat is too repetitive.

Really? No one talking about it which is bad news. Going F2P in Rift's release window probably wasn't a good idea.

I'm talking about the news page when you select a game on Steam, once it went f2p, Kotaku or PC Gamer said "f2p does the business".

I've never played DCUO, but Champions Online doesn't hold a candle to City of Heroes, despite they appear to be adding villians in Champions Online now.

Star Trek Online £2.37 (Steam Daily Deal) - pretty excellent price considering how much they have added since release.

I had to do a quadruple take on the price just to be sure. Lol. Think I'll purchase and give it a 30 day trial run. I probably won't play it after that but at this price, you'd be silly not to lol

You really can't go wrong, even for just 30 days. Plus you can generally find 60 days for £10 if you decide you want more playtime after this.

Forget anything any of you read after release, a huge amount of content has been added since - more than enough for at least a months play.

Nice. Sounds like a sweet deal all round. I know a few peeps who play it so I'll get on touch with them :)

So its worth getting it on steam? mite pick this up for my evenings gaming

Is £2.37 really a lot of money for anyone?

The fact is a lot has been added to the game now, easily enough to last you for a month...more so if you are only going to play in the evenings.

If you DO decide to sub after that, generally £10 can get you 60 days, so all in all a small investment now.

Even if you find you HATE the game, £2.37 isn't really all that much lost. Not considering how many people bought it for £30 on release, realised it was en empty game at the time and hated it :p (has come a long way since then though).
