Hmm 3 bird of preys... should be no probs for cruiser....
Again unless their level is much higher....

Are we talking about a few seconds here before you get destroyed?

Yes, pretty much the first 3 hits. However only happens now and again. All shields seem to go down at once. I'm putting down to a specific damage type. If you look on the market you can buy shield resists but they are pretty expensive for me, 8500.

Next time it happens I will check the combat log.

The Shield I'm using is a Blue

Covariant Shield Array MK2 [CAP]X2
4,650, 10% Bleed
78 Regen every 8 secs.

Hmm what rank are you? Thats a meaty shield since its CAP2 (but depends on your rank/grade).

Very surprised if you get hammered within a few seconds. Unless the others ships are MUCH higher than you are in rank (like +9 or something).

I wish they had released this in the Guild Wars style, or something similar as I love combat, and I think they could really do something with that perhaps with a single-player story (decent, not an MMO-style story), or similar.

It just doesn't seem to be worth the subscription for just that though, although I do miss flying around in my ships.

I will have to take more notice of the ships but why have such high level ships in the first starter sector? This seems strange.

It is a bit samey but I'm having fun for the moment. I love the space combat and hate the away missions to planets. I try to avoid them like the plague. Yet to do any episodes which look fun. I'm assuming this is like an WOW instance?

Yea I think you're right Asgard.

Im actually Rear Admiral Upper half atm. I think its 5 grades per half? If thats the case Im 2 levels from Vice Admiral...

Plus its good cause I heard they maybe introducing another rank? Fleet Admiral?

How long did it take you?

I'm assuming this is many levels above where I am in the game?

So all the kit on my ship scales with my rank?

Well I started the game when it first came out and got to Commander in a week or so, then I stopped.

Then I picked it up again about 2-3 weeks ago playing it on and off, but only in the last week have I been playing it more consistently.

It goes Lt Commander, Commander, Captain, Rear Admiral Lower and then Upper half, and then finally Vice Admiral.

Weapons do not scale as you level. You really need to buy new weaponary. Check out STO Wiki. Has plenty of good info on weapinary.

(Actually there is an exception to this rule in that shuttles have weapons which scale up as you level up).

Cheers will have a look. Just using drops so far which seem to be all disrupter based. Still much better than the default weapons.

Always wondered why there were shuttles in the Enemy Contacts.

What rank you are in the fleet has no impact on game play.

I know. I was requesting higher access in the Fleet since a lot of the "top brass" have stopped playing or playing infrequently

I am on nearly everynight these days

If you're not getting good drops on ship equipment, you can get basic level-appropriate stuff at earth starbase, and sometimes cheap on the AH, depending on how common the item is.

Yep yep! Thats a good point.

You know I've been doing SB24 last few days continously. Everytime Im ending on top and getting some good loot which goes for silly money on the exchange...
In the last few days I made myself a cool 2 million!

Is this the Starbase 24 mission? I have had this come up a few times and not bothered because I assumed it was an away mission.

With some more money I could try an Escort. Easy money sounds good to me.

SB24 is both space and ground mission (well spacestation anyway).
But the mission I am reffering to is the space one where basically you have to batter your way through fleets of Kilingon ships with other Federation ships.

You have to take out 50 ships and then in the next stage you have to take out 20 Neghvar ships. Once thats done, the game then calculates the damage you dished out and ranks you again other Federation ships. Usually the highest placed player gets a blue item and some recognition thing....

If you level up quickly and get to commander you will be eligible for a new ship (each new rank gets you a ship token which you can exchange for a ship at your level).

Still makes no difference and plus , you have to be of certain rank to become fleet ranks above a certain point (IE admiral).

Fleets have become rather dormant now.

Sorry difference to what? Basically I am looking to become a more integral member, (are you still playing JGBR) otherwise there are no "Fleet Admirals" to goven the fleet so to speak.

Also I am rear Admiral Upper Half and should ding to Vice in the next day or two.

Sorry Cavallino thats what I mean, whatever rank you hold makes no difference to the gameplay.

Also fleets are no longer doing anything really.

I'd suggest heading over to some of the big fleets who are organised and active.
