When I first heard of STO I had hoped to start a character as Ferengi dealer doing trades etc across the galaxy

Unfortunately the games direction is pretty much kill or be killed with a splash of diplomacy and limited puzzle solving.

Still so long as I get to fly a Prometheus with Multi Vector Assault Mode I am happy

Got bored after end game, I found it to be a lot of single player content even after I joined a rather large fleet :/

Pretty much same tbh, and in most cases I found the groups to be more annoying than anything else. Open instances worked well in open beta, but not as well once they changed everything.

Whats the deal with Shield resists, will 7.5 be any good?

My Cruiser lasted 2 seconds in the starter sector instance, I expected to see at least some resist. Seems weaker than my starter ship. May be I should have gone with the Escort? I thought Cruiser would suit my Engineer better.

Your Cruiser will last significantly longer than any Escort. You shouldn't be blowing up in two seconds, either your ship is woefully underspec'd or you have been fighting someone of higher rank than you.

why do u want a higher rank for the fleet, ranks makes no difference to your STO gameplay.

Gives you more control over the fleet, but tbh you really can't do a huge amount. How is the bank looking these days?

Asked this a few times. I think the fleet must have been destroyed or assimilated by the Borg!

I have been playing pretty much every night from around 10-12pm. So if you want to group up or maybe start our own fleet?

Seems to depend on the instance. I have a rare shield which look pretty good. I can only assume where my shields go within a second it's to do with the damage type which I effectively have no resistance against so it just cuts straight through to the hull.

Could be but I'm assuming the first sector enemy contacts should be easy and it's happened in there a couple of times. On missions it never happens and I have been the center of some serious hammering.

I'm currently debating if I should invest any more in the cruiser and try an Escort out. When I play Eve I did all my missions in a nighthawk with max resists so I could tank pretty much anything. I suppose the Cruiser is the same or should be.

Enemy contacts are kind of the exception to the solo-friendly rule in STO though, it's not uncommon to get mobbed by a dozen ships and just beaten down really quickly.

If you hover over the contact you'll see a -1 or +2 or the like to let you know what the level difference between you and the contact is.

May I ask how many ships are we talking about that pile up on you?
