Star Trek Online

Um...where's my toons gone?

If you haven't logged in for a while, your toons are moved to backup storage instead of live.

When you log in the first time, they won't be there... however if you log out, and then log back in viola, they will have been retrieved from the backup storage and transferred to 'live'.

Or that's how I remember reading what happens.

How is the PvP? OMG, I watched vids. on youtube, I wish Eve online was more like this.
PvP itself is better and more fun but one possible draw back. All PvP is arena based although different types of arenas. So no out numbering the enemy 5 ships to 1 like Eve. No loss in ships or equipment but on the plus side, ship fight action is way better then Eve.

Can someone explain the idea of fleet membership ?
I have seen the fleet store ( left some stuff and took one item ). How is it supposed to work.

The idea of fleets is like that of guilds in other games, you can ask your fleet for various types of assistance. Do episodes/STF's/Fleet Actions together. Fleets also have their own in game voice channel.. (Silvers also get this but I understand there are adverts for Silvers)

STO is however more of a solo player game for the most part which is a bit of a shame. But there are features being mooted now that they hope to bring to the game in the medium term future, Fleet Starbases, Territory Control and others.

The Fleet bank is mainly meant to provide players with some items to help with levelling their toons. Usually when you get a new ship, you usually get weapons that are 2 marks lower than what you should get for that rank. The basic idea is that if you want something in the bank, you are welcome to take it, however it would be a good idea to replace it with something of equal value. I tend to put my white items in the bank and sell the rarer items.

How is the fleet stuff now? I remember in Beta and early game it was so difficult to actually get into an instance together, you'd invariably find your group of 5 people allocated to different instances.

I might build a new PC this year and rejoin.

I remember this problem in the beta was a right pain to try play with friends as well, I'm currently playing through it with a friend and travelling through instances works flawlessly its working out really well as a coop game :D.

I remember trying to do something similar for SWTOR and we had to do each story mission twice and couldn't progress together, was a right pain.

well yesterday marked the beginning of the end for STO.

Perfect world ent. are a bunch of ****'s there philosophy is pay to win.

anyone actually enjoy anything Cryptic/PWE has done over the last year?

sad to see because out of all the dribble that's out ATM this is one of them games that could have almost unlimited potential but they just ****ed it all up the wall

Is it worth me putting in all that stuff I get from scanning anomalies? I don't need any of it but I just can't help scanning those damn anomalies...
