just read the stats, and put points into what you think ill help you more (cannons for example) its easier for you to learn you get a FREE respec everytime you advance a rank

Anon - just be careful the settings are not set too low, we had terrible trouble with raiders awhile back.

Just started playing F2P this weekend. Put a couple of hours in - I've never played games like this before, so it took a while to get acquainted (and I'm still learning), but it's a lot of fun! Cool as well because it's Star Trek I guess.

I'm playing alone (I know nobody else who plays this, and I daren't ask anyway), is it best to team up with a fleet of some kind?

I rather like my heavy escort, it will be a shame to be forced to trade it in for a Defiant soon

Yeah I know what you mean, though I think get quad cannon which will be good

How come? Gotta say, I thought I loved the Akira, but I really love the Defiant. It's awesome.

You only get the quad cannon if you buy the Sao Paulo from the C-Store, as far as I'm aware.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the standard loadout for it is, I imagine you would just get dual heavy cannons instead. Gotta say, I'm not sure it was worth spending the points on, but as I'd only traded dilithium for them it doesn't feel like such a big loss.

It's just the way it looks, my Heavy Escort is pretty and I find the Defiant unpleasent to look at, like the small escort before it.

Also it feels odd to be going to a smaller ship, although it is better in every way stats wise of course (except for crew).

The defiant is an amazing little ship - felt absolutely fantastic dogfighting around the larger ships during fleet actions.
