Star Trek Online

To easily work out your handle, just visit the startrekonline.com site. It'll say "Welcome, <name>" at the top next to the Cryptic logo. That's your handle :)
 
Download is killing me, can't get a source that at all fast and the FP downloader keeps telling me the file verification has failed and kicking me back to start the queue all over again :(
 
I got it through an Aussie FTP link earlier in the thread, wasnt that fast but was at least stable.

Played for a couple of hours and Ive really had a lot of fun. I'd just finished a group mission involving killing klingons on the ground followed by a space battle and got d/c'd on my way back to earth.

Still trying to get my head around most things but on the whole it seems like it could be really good.
 
Had some fun so far - still very flakey. I seem to be able to last 25-30 mins before getting a drop. I actually had played through the Azure mission to near the end before it dropped and I had to restart from the beginning. Ship combat is fun.

Oh, I also keep appearing as my character in space and as my ship on the ground! Other people seem to be having the same issue.

Yeah I did that quest, if its the one with the species 8472 guy. Bit miffed about the linearity of that quest, would have been nice if I at least had the option of interrogating the guy to see if he actually was species 8472 instead of just being forced into having a fight. Hopefully there is a little more flexibility and choice in later missions rather than having to just click continue and do what it says each time.

Is the group chat broken? Because during that mission nobody in my group said a single word, not even a Hi at the beginning. Total silence from start to finish and then all just disbanded. I know its a beta and all, but hell..its still community building to at least talk when encountering other people. Unless as I say the group chat is broken at the moment.
 
Anyone having problems with the K7 Mission, You have a choice of going to either Ket'a'ra or Ortha? The one mission is insanley hard (I.E like 40 odd Borg Cubes you can't survive against whilst you scan 8 nodes) and the other is a Ground War Mission (Where you have to find 5 assimilation victims?) I can't seem to find any of them to actually complete the mission :(
 
Gave it another go after getting very bored 3 months ago, quite surprised nothing has really changed apart from different loading screens.

Admittedly if you're any sort of Star Trek fan you'll more than likely love your first few play sessions but the lack of variety of the missions, even though they have ground and space arenas to work with, is quite dissapointing.

Seemed to work OK when I teamed up eith some OcUK people earlier. Zone chat does seem a bit hit or miss at times though. I think the server is still struggling!

Btw, had fun guys! Look forward to teaming with more of you at the headstart. Trying not to play too much at the moment :)
