Star Trek Online

Have been tempted to resub, but doesn't sound like they have added anything since I last played. Amazed this game is still going with the little they have added this year.

Seems pretty fair tbh. A lot of what they are "limiting" aren't really necessary features anyway e.g. energy credit storage limit - there is nothing to spend them on in the game anyway!

I still think this is the best move for STO and one they should have done a long time ago.

Not sure how I will approach this. Whether to start a new account, or transfer some of my previous toons to F2P? My worry is that they haven't added much since I left earlier in the year, and I had gotten bored with the current format.

Can't fault the devs though, had some great conversations with them and they were trying their best to suit a very immature, volatile community (basically your typical MMO community).

Hey chaps, I dunno if I am still in the Fleet or not as I stopped playing after about a month but I bought a lifetime sub so if you need me to help you keep the fleet alive I'm always happy to update my game and log in as I still have it installed :)

Might be very useful :)

You should still be there, I only kicked out one person who had been stealing loot and wasn't an OcUK member.

What is your Captain name? Perhaps JGBR could promote you to give you more control over the fleet? We could certainly use some lifers to keep it alive.

Don't want to step on any of your plans though JGBR :)

I presume that its worth setting up a second account for a free account and just leaving the gold account perhaps

or

It says you have to convert char, adding a new char now to your account and just converting one to silver and leaving one as gold?

I will probably go for the first option - if I find I am REALLY enjoying it again I will convert my silver characters.

Same here. Also finding the whole experience a lot easier playing through with a tactical captain. Not sure if that's because it's been made easier since I played science, or because he just kicks a lot more ass :D

Tactical captain is definitely the way to go.

I worked out very quickly in open beta that anything else took much longer to level. It is how I levelled my first toon so quickly on release. Of my levelling experience with all 3 types of captain, tactical was by far the most fun for me.

IF the lifetime goes cheap like lotro £75 vip type deal i might invest again, but sto never caught me from the beginning tbh

Doubt it will ever be that cheap - when Champions Online went F2P they had lifetime offers, but they were nowhere near as cheap :(

Downlaoded, its askin me for keys o>O and i dont seem to be able to find any kind of 7day trial?

Didn't think there were 7 day trials? Then again, you can sometimes find the game for just a few quid, so keys aren't too expensive.

I hope cryptic doesnt cave to all the ppl saying theirs no incentive for ppl who sub/lifers as the matrix is very nice for f2p players atm.

I doubt they will - they rarely cave to the community over there because Cryptic know how overdramatic they all are.

They will keep it very close to the Champions Online matrix, since it is working so well at the moment.

Tbh though, looking at the STO matrix, I can't see a huge incentive to sub. I guess they will make most of the money from the very overpriced C-store.

Scanned over the F2P model they are going with and it looks quite nice, might reinstall later this year... only thing that I really don't like is the respecs are not free.

Not too big of a deal, respecs aren't really essential anyway and the descriptions of what each skills does are a lot better now.

We were always very lenient with the bank - but before I left earlier in the year we did have the odd person who completely stripped certain levels of the bank and never put anything back. Some of the end gear took a long time to acquire.

Same happened to a Champions Online guild that i returned to a while back. Don't know why people do it - credits are next to worthless in these games and the equipment is only useful for a short amount of time until you find your feet at the current level.

Luckily we never used to keep anything *too* important in the bank. Annoyingly, because of Cryptic's rules, you cant even name and shame on the official forums.

Of course, most of the individuals in our STO fleet are OcUKers...so feel free to name and shame here :)
