DStahl, has announced he's stepping away from STO and Cryptic.

Now the question becomes, did he jump or was he pushed?

Sad to see him go and hope he goes onto better things. I had a number of chats with him after he took control of STO. It really was a mess when he took over and he pushed it in the right direction. At the end of the day, he was incredibly limited with what was available to him, and whatever he did one half of the community would give him grief over it. Not a job I would have wanted tbh.

If you can keep your eye on the Events. There's a new one every hour, Mirror events and Tour Of the Universe are not bad.

Shame they didn't make it more mass effect style like they planned.

I think two fleet admirals are around a lot (me and anon e mouse) , its free to play now for any previous subs and then going fully public soon.

Didn't realise it hasn't gone public yet, explains why it was so quiet on there. Seems like a lot has changed.

Just downloaded this and had a play around with it, I can't remember at what point to you pick your ship class, Science, Escort, Cruiser?

I thought I would have to pay to transfer my characters to the free account, but everything just worked. Will try to start getting on a little more. Seems like there is a lot more to do now, and I still have my aegis gear

It's not like that at all at the moment though, everything in the cash shop is pretty much cosmetic. Remains to see if it will stay that way, but I think the amateur dramatics are a bit premature.

Yep, and based on this I don't get how the cryptic f2p games make enough money tbh. Champions online benefitted a lot from f2p though, so I can only assume this will too.

I really wish I had kept my lifetime sub for this. It is one of the few games I find myself going back to, or at least wanting to when I get the time! Had some great times playing this with the ocuk fleet.

I played the beta for a few days and was plagued by crashing.

how much fun is there for a F2P player that really doesn't want to spend a single £ for anything.

I know most MMOs cripple you beyond belief for fun, is this the same.

The crashing was fixed for most people by adjusting the graphics settings - I think it was dynamic lights.

You can do most everything with f2p that you could if paying. They seem to be making money off the cstore and star trek fans need to buy everything on there. No game winning items on there either.
