Star Trek Online

I wouldnt want it across the whole server - because everyone have the right to choose. But I could certainly see them having instances reserved just for a PvP universe - or some kind of option before you start playing. There are ways to get around forcing EVERYONE into open PvP.

They could have home systems which are close to Sol as PvP "safe" and everywhere else could be open pvp. I mean in the show the Romulans/Klingons etc wouldnt turn up and then say oh no..hang on, we arent allowed to attack here. They would attack first and ask questions later. There arent too many Star Trek episodes which contain no fighting/battles/warfare and by and large the most highly rated episodes are the ones which involve exactly that (Best of Both Worlds, the Dominion battle episodes etc etc).

However, I dont think the game will go in that direction, but thats ok, there are after all other titles that can/will provide that kind of focus. As long as STO proves to be a success thats all that really matters. We need more successful MMOs on the market because the MMO market is getting dreadfully stale currently.

Hmm just if im gonna get jumped ever two seconds i go to a planet or a new sector, im going to get annoyed lol

Surely the answer to that is to not go into "unclaimed" sectors by yourself? There is after all a reason why when a nation explores "unknown" territory they dont send just a single person :)

In Star Trek they do tend to send just a single ship though. To boldly go and all that. :)

Generally though the Captain of said ship doesnt say no way Starfleet, I aint going there alone, I might get ganked :) (or if they do they tend to find themselves quickly demoted to Ensign and having to spend the remainder of their tour time making sure that Engineering has clean replicator panels :D )

Probably because said Starship captain has to deal with holywood script writers rather than griefing idiots. :D

Hehe, I suspect not too many officers in the military tell their commanders that they arent going to do as ordered either :) (at least not if they are hoping for promotion)

(some would say that hollywood script writers = griefing idiots :D )

Looking at the official site, it says I need to enter in my pre-order key to access the head-start Friday 29th. As i bought the game off Steam, will this apply to me?

Yes, although if you check your dashboard in accounts it might already state that you have a pre-order already activated.

Thanks for replying. Looking into my account it says: "Activated Features
Star Trek Online Open beta access".

No mention of pre order.

Do I need to contact Steam or Cryptic?

Do you have a seperate pre-order key? My D2D key worked for beta and pre-order... Steam might have them separate. If you do, try entering that one... Otherwise Steam support will be able to help.
