The highlight of the episode was James Callis pretty much reprising his Gaius Baltar persona!

Felt quite odd having him pop up as we're currently revisiting BSG (2004) just finishing up S3. Wife and I were both wondering when Tricia Helfer was going to pop in beside him...

Then we had another cue from ST IV TVH with the Spanish guy, "I only work in outer space."

But otherwise a bit of a mess - even in ST IV TVH they didn't impact that much on the timeline.

The dad from this and then from tng is a bit diff in looks.

Also im wondering about something, in nemesis its said picard had a hyper sensitivity to sound most of his youth till it got fixed. But i dont see the boy version of picard have any hearing issues.

This is being acted, he is still very much able to project like Picard of yesteryear.

If he can he should have, this picard im not very fond of, as i really liked his strength in his voice in tng and the films but this picard, im really turned off from the show cos of that the most. I think most are tbh. Bad decision imo to do the frail voice.

Also i think thats why when wolverine film came out and saw him in that, i was like, whats up with his voice. Thats when i thought yeah pat i dont think will be acting much longer after that. And then picard show comes and hes the same frail voice from wolverine in this. Thats why i thought he couldnt sound the way he used to.

A bit ?? Picard forgot he wasn't bald lol

Same reason, "picard" forgot (and not the writers).

‘Remember, don’t alter the timeline!’ ‘Would you like to see my spaceship?’

Admittedly the doctor is very easy on the eyes, very easy indeed.

This show is just a dumpster fire of a show, I assume the writing team at this point have never seen an episode of TNG, Picard doesn't even act like Picard. I could go on forever but I'm too annoyed.

Episode 8, and I've almost given up hope of any of the numerous plotlines being tied up by the season end. It is just a complete mess. If it wasn't for Sol Rodriguez as the doc, I'd have nodded off.

Good back story with Dutch as the FBI agent, but then 5mins after Picard opens up, Dutch is back in the interrogation room carrying the contents of his desk having been fired and then lets them go - wtf?

This was an FBI safe house - what desk contents did he actually clear out?

Europa space mission, fate of mankind at stake, "Those were Vulcans, they did a mind-meld and i'm here to save humanity", "Ah, got ya, nice one Pops, on you go".

I still maintain they could have told this story easily in 3 episodes.

First episode where they contact the Borg and get whipped back to the totalitarian past

Second episode where the Borg queen gets out in to the wild and starts assimilating randoms, and Q sets up the secondary plot.

Third where Picard and co. stop the Borg queen and they learn what’s going on with Q (he is dying)… only to be “judged” to be good and taken back to the future.

The FBI interrogation was so poorly done… I’m not even going to bother trying to wonder what they were even trying to communicate to the viewer other than “if you mention aliens, you’re immediately fired” but it’s ok because the suspects are free to go.

Also love during the fbi flashback the Vulcans somehow didn’t hear someone out shouting for a dog on the other side of a small hill.

Q; can't snap his fingers to vaporize Guinan. Also Q; can insert himself as a psychiatrist for astronauts or as a top secret FBI agent.

Indeed, I read an interview with Alison Pill and according to her there was a lot of writing going on all the time, they just seem to be making it up as they go along instead of having proper scripts ready and a proper storyline that makes sense without tramping on the toes of tng. The shows a ******* trainwreck at best.

2 seasons and we've had a couple of ok at best episodes, while the rest are filler and crap.

Speaking of the scripts, what did you think when you realized you were going to be the Borg Queen, at least in part, this season?

[Executive producer] Akiva [Goldsman] spoke to me about it early on before I even saw scripts, and I was thrilled at the prospect! There was so much writing going on throughout the season, so we were never quite sure where it was all going to land, in which episode or how it would all come together. I spoke to writers about the through line of why Agnes feels compelled by the arguments of the queen and how her influence on the queen might affect the idea of the collective more generally. I thought it was a fascinating tension to explore.

Ignoring the obvious plot holes and polluted time line, I find the show to be dull and tedious, it feels like a two parter made to stretch out over a whole season.

So we have watched 3 episodes so far and my missus has given up. Don't blame her one bit. It is so hard to watch. Only supporting cast I like is seven of nine, the rest do not fit at all and the script is just terrible. So far the only thing I genuinely enjoyed was Q showing up. The way they did the CGI young Q and explained away him looking older now was awesome. It put a huge smile on my face.

I will continue watching but fast forwarding I think as i don‘t want to miss out any guest appearances or cool scenes like the one with Q.

Plenty of us of the same opinion, this would be a tng 2 parter, maybe 3 parts at best. But they've 10 episodes to produce so episodes seem to be little on plot lots on filler. Pathetic really.
