Star Trek: Picard

Got excited when a Borg story unfolded. Episode 2 was a bit meh tbh.

Agreed. Its gone back to the "capers in space" ridiculousness. Will see if episode 3 is any better and keep watching if it is.

The galaxy conquering "confederation" gets outwitted by a bunch of people from another timeline who have had about 20 minutes to come up with and execute their plan. They seem to have read the script from discovery and decided that an "evil" starfleet is a good idea again. And dear lord what has happened to writers. I feel like in 10 years time we will literally have name tags for the good and bad guys and they will break the 4th wall to explain exactly who they are lampooning with their "clever" writing. The "confederation", oh wow, how clever you all are.

So does this mean that the temporal agents are going to turn up again from the Department of Temporal Investigations and tell everyone off for mucking about with time travel again

I liked the Confederacy name super subtle  Now I understand why these Hollywood writers are paid so much.

Otherwise it was an ok episode it doesn't sink the boat.

Am I alone in thinking that in a series of generally poorly written characters Raffi takes the award for combined most annoying and badly written character?

The doctor is sooooooo much more annoying and out-of-place.

Give me the emergency medical hologram over her tbh!

Not necessarily, anything Q does could be completely fake, all in their heads etc. He's omnipotent.

As in the AI one? I can only see her as the girl in Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Its weird, she looks identical, just older and it doesn't suit her if you know what I mean.
That’s the one. I couldn’t remember how to spell her name and I’m too lazy to google it :p

Just her mannerisms and her speech… everything about her pulls me out of watching a Star Trek show.

Is it me or does anyone else usually find at least one character in any show that they watch, end up hating as they really get on your nerves?
I find your univerdal rule to be broadly universal. But in THIS show do you find Raffi to be the most annoying and badly written of a poor bunch? In fairness EVH has offered up a suitable challenger.

Wesley was the universally hated one on tng. Troi being a close second, all she ever done was state the blindingly obvious. An alien on the viewscreen looking like Snidely Whiplash doing the whole moustache twirling and evil cackle and troi turns to picard and says 'I don't trust him".

Back when the Freemans/Grattons/Littlewoods catalogue was something to get your average teenage boy hot under the collar Troi was an object of worship.

The internet has destroyed pubescent lust.
