Star Trek: Picard

Just watched S3E1, liking it. Picard in general is so much better than the abomination that is Discovery which I gave up on a couple of series ago.

I liked Discovery (Season 1 and 2) far more than anything in Picard season 1*

Which isn't to say Discovery was good.

*I didn't watch season 2 but did see some of RedLetterMedia's videos about it.

Imagine writing up the report on that. “So you mean to tell me that there was some sort of weird creature inside the Lieutenant Commander, then he ate another creature, and that meant you had to disintegrate him with phasers? Hmmm”.

some interesting speculation who who the bad guys are, on the net. it funny you pick that clip :)

All modern star trek is garbage :(

Watched about two episodes of STD (very apt) before giving up in disgust.

Picard lasted about three episodes, so an improvement I guess.

The new series is something else though. New show runner who has worked on TNG of old. Try this one and forget the others.

I keep hearing season 3 is a bit better. But I'm just not prepared to sit through the bilge that is season 1 and 2 to try it.
Not just a bit better but so so much better. Also not all modern Trek is garbage. Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are actually very enjoyable.
I'm still a bit meh about Picard season 3, episode 2 seemed rather fillerish in all honesty, yes we need some back story but this kind of just felt empty.... it's still arguably better than season 1 and 2 though.

Best 'new star trek' has been Strange New Worlds, hell even Discovery was better with Pike etc involved, the casting actually seems to have a bit more of a 'connection' than discovery and in all honesty is less woke (hate the term but discovery does suffer from it)
Didn't get into Lower Decks although I did watch Prodigy which while aimed at a younger demographic wasn't that bad...

I have a feeling 'section 31' spin off (if it ever comes out) will either be great or rubbish, Michelle Yeoh's character was one of the more interesting elements of Discovery shall we say.

Episode 2

Not great, given the limited number of episodes to wrap this up I thought they would want to progress the story quite a bit quicker. Came away from this ep thinking, we are no further forward than the end of ep1.

Lower decks?? The trite cartoon thingy?

I thought that, watched about 5 minutes of the first episode, but then gave up as it was nothing like Trek to me.
However, i have since watched all of it and its not to bad as long as you adjust your expectations accordingly, I'd go as far as to say its certainly better than what we have seen from the live action stuff so far, that said I haven't seen any of the new season of Picard (the first 2 were weak AF IMHO) nor Strange New Worlds, so we'll see..

If you take it in the same sort of grain as you would an episode of Family Guy or something like that, that's about where it sits IMHO, but based in the Trek universe...

I didn't mind Family Guy up to around series 7 then it just got poor, unfunny and repetitive. I can't be doing with a "comedy" version of Star Trek.

It started a bit Rick and Morty but later episodes dropped a lot of silly hu.our and some got pretty intense story wise with bit of hu.our still there.
