Star Trek: Picard

It didn't have zero damage? I thought it was destroyed and we're seeing the rebuilt one "one year later". Remember they said Earth's shield were down and the population centres unprotected.

Not really destroyed, i'd say heavily damaged and knocked off it's orbit rotation. Given the sheer scale of the thing i'd say even in the future putting a new one of those together would be a challenge in a year.

How the frig did this happen?

How did we go from a complete pile of steaming **** to one of the best ends to a series/show I have seen.

Awsome one liners with perfect timing.

Every character seemed to have their moment to shine.

My emotions were all over the place hah

Seven of Nine!!! Woof

We also have the Defiant at Season 7 being the Sao Paulo originally. So it happens.

Yup

Pretty much down to Patrick Stewart wanting to "go solo" he initially didn't want it to be a TNG reunion, but the only season that was well received WAS the TNG reunion. Though it would take some creative writing to have 3 seasons of the original TNG crew fart arsing around the universe in a decommissioned star ship for the lulz. It's likely due to the first 2 seasons being so meh that this stands out as being very good.

That's supposedly how the Enterprise A came about according to some, it was the Yorktown rechristened. Others say it was a new ship entirely.

Canon as far as I'm concerned.

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 509), "Roddenberry reportedly suggested the second USS Enterprise-A, launched at the end of Star Trek IV, had previously been named USS Yorktown since it seemed unlikely that Starfleet could have built a new Enterprise so quickly. If this was the case, the Yorktown may have made it safely back to Earth and been repaired and renamed, or perhaps there was a newer, replacement Yorktown already under construction at the time of the probe crisis." The latter scenario could be supported by dialogue from Star Trek V where the Enterprise is described as a "new ship" by Scotty, whereas the former scenario serves as a convenient rationale for the difficulties Scotty had of getting the apparently recently refitted ship (therefore also fitting his "new ship" remark, akin to a similar remark Will Decker had already made on the refit-Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture) back in operational order after the debilitating effects the Whale Probe had inflicted on it.

The season four internal studio document, Star Trek: The Next Generation Writers' Technical Manual (2nd ed. p. 6), co-written by Star Trek Encyclopedia Co-Author Michael Okuda, emphatically stated the renaming scenario as being the case, reiterated in its one year later released Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual spinoff publication and reaffirmed in the even later officially licensed Star Trek Fact Files and the 2010 reference book USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual. This was further validated when, in later Star Trek Encyclopedias, Okuda described the 2293 Yorktown – the one Tuvok's father served on – as the second ship to bear the name. The Starfleet practice of renaming a vessel for a very deserving other vessel was later canonically established in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes "The Changing Face of Evil" and "The Dogs of War", when the USS Sao Paulo was rechristened as the USS Defiant, when the original Defiant was destroyed in the Dominion War. The Star Trek Encyclopedia and all other subsequent official reference works confirm the Yorktown being a Constitution-class heavy cruiser. The producers of Star Trek: The Original Series had the name included on their final fourteen ship list at the start of its second season, belonging to the Constitution-class, then still referred to as "Starship-class" by them. (The Making of Star Trek, pp. 164-165)/quote]

Soo..

Is that the Borg utterly humped now? Janeway set events into motion that seem to have killed off hundreds of millions of drones (if not billions), it's like their last ditch effort after infection was to build this megacube, and the queen had to absorb whatever drones were left to keep herself alive to see the plan out fully and start a new collective. Or will they come back at some point... Its just a shame Janeway couldn't have made an appearance to have some sort of interaction with the Queen and how she is now vs when Janeway last seen her.

A lot of credit has to go to Terry Matalas the primary show runner and writer.

With shows like this it helps when you have a team of people who are fans of franchise and want to treat the lore and characters with respect. The issue with modern day Star Trek, Star Wars and Dr Who is you get people coming in to take over the show and they have a vision for how they want the show to be which is often incompatible with the underlying premise and lore of the franchise (it's obvious from the final product that it's been influenced by peoples political beliefs and they have shaped the product around it). Star Trek historically has never been afraid of dealing with social issues but it's always done it in an intelligent way that doesn't patronise the audience, A Measure Of A Man and Drumhead spring to mind in that regard.

My god. I skipped through parts of it. I really don't see the appeal. I've filled a few sick buckets after listen to the dialogue. Please let TNG era be over now. Forever.
Dialogue, acting and plot all ropey. The science was so tenuous. It all felt like a skeletal story to just justify the nostalgia, which was still enjoyable.

The random cheap jokes missed the mark too.

The casting for Picard's son is so unbelievable too.

watch a new series with LaForge Jr, Picard Jr, the new crew and Captain Nine? I probably would you know, as long as Matalas is at the helm. Pardon the nautical pun.
I'm not completely sold on the idea, but if the stories are good, no silly crying all the time, and we get some nice cameos now and again then I'm all for it
