Star Trek : Strange New Worlds

I'd like to see more for No. 1 to do. Much of the time she felt like an extra, not a main part of the cast.

Oh and keep it in 21:9, looks fantastic on my 21:9 monitor!
 
I'm not sold on the new Kirk. He just doesn't seem like Kirk at all. I'm not asking for an impersonator, but he could have got more of the mannerisms or charm down
 
Oh sry i didnt know ep 10 was out, thought it ended on ep 9 lol. I thought he meant kirks brother that was on the crew.

Hmm so kirks revealed in latest ep then. Looking forward to seeing it in a bit.
 
Episode 5 was a real downer for me, really knocked the show back to the level of Discovery. I guess they wanted a quieter episode after the previous one with the Gorn encounter but apart from the initial tribute to Amok Time it was another sippy, sappy, goody goody with a bit of woke thrown in, new style ST. Probably didn't help watching back to back with The Orville Ep 6 but I even suggested to my missus SNW should be relegated from watching in the evening, to teatime viewing.
 
When each episode is it's own story, you aren't going to have 10 "bangers". I actually thought episode 5 was decent with episode 8 being the weakest before getting better again.

I agree on this, they really couldnt have gotten someone who looked less like Kirk - (really bears no resemblance at all) or sounded less like Kirk (his voice is far too high a pitch , Shatner had a much deeper voice than this guy) if they tried. No idea who cast him or thought it was a good idea to cast him.
 
Episode 10....

So good.

I really liked how they did it. I liked having insider knowledge vs the girlfriend watching it! :D

I really like pike and spock. Best characters by far. Nurse Chapel is decent. And noonien-singh.

Number 1 sucks. Just not in it. Not really needed.

Doctor I'm not a fan of.



Really solid season. I liked the light hearted episodes. I love how it tries, and in my opinion succeeds, to go back to what star trek was and modernise it. Without ruining it.


Great show. 8/10

If ST SNW was the first ST out the gate rather than Discovery people would likely be a lot more enthusiastic about ST in general.

Discovery started OK. Then went off the rails. It just got ridiculous.

Can't stand Michael. And it's not just Michael it's the actress.

Spore drive.. Ridiculous

I pretty much agree with this, best season of a trek show in a long time

Opening, what is the fascination with food and Pike cooking?!

Kirk reveal - was hoping for someone better. He looks and sounds like a snotty nose kid, he also has a strange walk, head down and dragging one feet - very weird. Although, I did like Pike and Kirks interactions, some good dialogue. He does however remind me more of Phil Dunphy than Jim Kirk.

Romulan reveal, that was so funny they way they looked towards Spock as oppose to being dramatic - felt more like the Orville than Star Trek! All I could think of:


Scotty!! That was very cool. That ending too, "it isn't over".

Excellent episode and season finale.

The Spock close up and eyebrow raise was perfectly in keeping with the original. If you weren't aware this episode was a retelling of the TOS Balance of Terror but with Pike instead of Kirk. If you haven't seen it it's worth watching to get the changes and what causes the war etc.
