Seen some clips of it, the sound effects do my nut in, it sounds like they're firing toy guns from the 80's with little electronic sound effects, as usual the warp effect is non existent, the ship just vanishes, going to warps meant to be an event, but they've got lazier and lazier with the warp effect to the point its not even an effect anymore, the ship just disappears with a slight blur behind it thats barely even noticable.

Nichelle Nichols, who originally played Uhura in Star Trek, won't be down for breakfast.

American actress Nichelle Nichols, best known for her role in 1960s sci-fi TV series Star Trek, has died aged 89.

Ms Nichols broke barriers in her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in the series, becoming one of the first black actresses in the US to play a figure in authority.

She was later employed by Nasa in an effort to encourage more women and African-Americans to become astronauts.

She died of natural causes on Saturday night, her son Kyle Johnson said.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Mr Johnson wrote: "I regret to inform you that a great light in the firmament no longer shines for us as it has for so many years.

"Her light however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration."

Good series in general. Nice to see Pike finally putting Ortegas in her place after he incessant whinging in the last episode. Thats one thing that has been sorely lacking from new Trek. Chain of command. You follow orders. You're a grown adult who is supposed to be on the flagship of Star Fleet. You wouldn't behave like a pissy teenager and get away with it.

I think thats what I disliked most about Picard. They had taken the ultimate captain and turned him into a wet noodle of a man scared of his own shadow.

I liked the last episode and it was quite nice not to have a series feel like it has to end on a big cliffhanger.
 
I'm guessing the young Scotty will be making his appearance for season 2. Hopefully they do a better job of casting for him than they did for Kirk. The Kirk casting was quite jarring because they did pretty well in terms of appearance and voice with the casting for the young Uhura, Mbenga, Number one, Spock, Sam Kirk etc etc , but were WAY wide of the mark in not only Kirks appearance but his voice too.

Yeah, Kirk wasn't great casting IMO.
 
Whenever I see this Kirk I find myself thinking about that Jim Carrey skit.


I thought the casting for the movies was good, Quinto, Urban and Pine could have been a great trio. Unfortunately JJ did his usual, start well then let it all go to **** routine.

They hired Justin Lin, of Fast and Furious fame to direct the third one. We got Fast and Furious:Star Trek, not a proper Star Trek film.
