**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

I'm not seeing playing in firstperson mode as a disadvantage so far - there is the odd person obviously using hacks but that is another story.

The game has "hidden" effects of recoil/spread anyhow - if you burst fire you'll still do better usually even though it looks like your rounds are still on target.

https://forums.battlefront.starwars.ea.com/discussion/6989/first-person-vs-third-person

Reading atm not looking good.
The BIGGEST advantage is being able to peek around corners while in Third Person. It is even a bigger advantage in the smaller objective modes when you are trying to defend. Another big advantage (like someone else said) is that you don't notice the "flinch" as much. You also have a better idea of how well you're moving or strafing during a firefight (not enough people do this! This isn't Counter-Strike, don't be afraid to move while you are firing!)

The ONLY disadvantage is shooting or throwing your grenades into walls

Pretty much what i feared, So is there no HC mode then? :(

I wouldn't know because I'm not pro enough to try any of that. I shoot, I miss, I die :p

There is recoil though so not sure what they guy was on about in the video you saw.

I don't disagree Rofflay, there is zero reason to use first person view, 3rd person view gives you big advantages:

- you move faster/more agile
- can see a lot more and as you said use it to see around corners etc. although with a built in wall hack, I don't think this really matters much now...
- iirc there is less visual recoil
- no flinch when getting shot

I have indeed :( blame Tony! The EA Marketing Sheep

It is great fun, I can see what you mean but you really don't notice, it's that fast paced, unless you get killed by an AT-ST/AT-AT/Hero/Villain, you won't know you've been by a wall hack thing.

Having the Heroes and Villains in adds to it for me, because it makes it harder, it requires you to back off and think about your next move rather than just run in, full pelt and mow down everything in your path like you used to on BF4 :p

EA/DICE should hire Tony! First hardline and now this....

I'm sure that I would :p How many times have we said on TS/DC when playing bf 4, how the **** did they know I was there?! :p + I can see it making walker assault very difficult for the attackers, how are you suppose to get a good flank on etc. After seeing that video of xfactor's, it has just completely killed all interest in this game for me now.

Have you not seen xfactor's videos where he plays as Bobba fett and auto locks onto people across the map :D I am all for things like heroes but the problem is they are so OP (just as they should be) that trying to get them to be balanced would then make them rather pointless imo. What makes it worse is that they seem to have taken away the decrease in health/time limit for the heroes so you can go the whole round as them.

Aye to be honest i will wait i think in time they will give a first person only mode or filter. Although in saying that there is no server browser so how would it work?

It will be a massive seller, That is the way of the world now the more a game sucks donkeys the bigger it sells. Cutting out content and making it a reskin of last years version also boosts sales. I duno why they do not just release the game on half a disc with just one map. It would probably sell a billion copies.

Customers these days! Im off to buy BF4 premium.

I don't think there should be a timelimit for them - but to play any considerable length of time as one should require a good level to skill to stay alive - that doesn't mean making them weaker necessarily but that they need to put some effort in to stay alive against multiple opponents.

Staying at the back of the map with a pin point accurate and powerful gun as well as having a jetpack + auto lock on rockets doesn't require skill.

That is all xfactor has done when playing bobba, just sits at the back, fire a few shots at the enemy, jet pack up high, fire auto lock on rocket, rinse and repeat and if he gets into too much trouble, he just uses the get out of jail card i.e. the jetpack and resumes to doing the above again.

The only way to "fix" this is to make his weapons useless at range or/and add a time limit.

I wouldn't hold your breath for that, I can't see them doing anything other than making you move faster when in 1st person mode and reducing/removing the flinch altogether. Previous battlefront games have been 3rd POV.

And yup, despite hating battlelog when it first came about, it really changed MP games for the better imo, although in some ways it is a good thing having a locked down server system, BF 4 and 3 have turned to **** for server choice, fast spawn vehicles, stupidly high ticket count or/and only rotate a couple of maps....

Yeh I'm a massive fan of battlelog. Decoupling the server browser and player setup from the game was a great idea if you know anything about development.

Yea it nearly made me fork out for my own server. Because i had an idea to make it one sniper each side, 4min respawns on players and vehicles and certain classes with limits. Basically the idea was to make medics the most important but limited asset on the battlefield.

Anyone who played a lot of Play 4 Free with the medivac perk for a vehicle would know what i was aiming for. When you hear a bullet crack, You duck just because of the fear of a 4min wait time.

There are definitely massive balance issues and poor spawn locations, but *hopefully* these will get ironed out.

I miss Battlelog too, and it's this I fear may disappear from BF5. While they want to let you play with your mates, I think they are looking seriously at trying to prevent the CFA/OcUK style server stomping which it facilitated.

Edit: TBH apart from balance, the big elephant in the room is the price. £30-40 is one thing but £100 for premium really is a joke. Unless of course one of the DLCs is a single player dark forces 3 ;)
DICE stockholm made a great game (BF4) with poor balance
DICE LA fixed it, and balanced it
VISCERAL games made a pretty good game with very poor balance. Not fixed yet so game flops
DICE stockholm made a great game (SWBF) with very poor balance
brb, Calling DICE LA!

So I've seen a few streams of this lol

Its completely playable with 3 fingers... 1 on mouse1, 1 for running forward, and 1 for spamming grenades..

I hope BF5 is nothing like bfh or swbf. It looks like there are only four maps in star wars bf, but I might be wrong on that. All they did was reuse smaller parts of the maps for other game modes. The larger game modes like walker assault only have four maps. That is the least amount of maps I have ever seen in a game. It will be good for the occasional game at times but can't see myself playing it like I do bf4. I've even been playing bf4 since star wars was released.

They know people will pay for the content later on as i said, You cannot blame DICE when they did not come around and mug you for the money. You choose to pay it so really why would they not do it? If i thought someone would take less for the same amount i would do it too.

And it has to be playable with 3 fingers because they know being star wars everyone it going to want to play this, Even the special people will be able to pick it up and have fun. Everything is in the name of $$$. Profit for the sake of depth and enjoyment to the real gamers. You know i am half tempted to post a poo through thier letterbox in Stockholm.

/deep breath Rofflay deep breath :D

It's not clear many people will buy the DLC, it was the biggest weakness with BF3 and BF4 which split the community into those who had all the maps and those who only had the base maps. The last two maps for BF4 were given to everyone otherwise practically no one would have played them (Except the premium CTE players who had already played them).

The low number of maps may be an attempt to push more people into buying more map DLC, but I think that will fail personally.

Yeah premium completely divided the bf 3 player base, I found with bf 4 it was less so though.

And yup battlelog could do with some de-bloating but overall it is a good system for finding certain servers, doing your loadout etc.

While they want to let you play with your mates, I think they are looking seriously at trying to prevent the CFA/OcUK style server stomping which it facilitated.

TBF though, that isn't so much an issue for most rounds especially since they implemented that team balance thing that kind of ruined bf 4 for me.

The problem with BF and balance is there is just so much to take into account i.e. you got various ground vehicles, aircraft, boats, types of guns, grenades, rockets, pistols, classes etc. etc. And then when you get a really good player in something that requires quite a bit of skill i.e. aircraft, they can completely break the game balance. Personally I would like the removal of the attack heli and jets for future battlefield games, I feel that was one of the reasons why BC 2 was a a lot better for gameplay overall.... although I'm sure that I would be in a very small minority who wants this....

Wow I'm impressed my graphics card keeps up!
60+ on all maps so far @ 2560x1080 on ultra.

Enjoying the game, I really like the simplicity of it, everything is easy to control, guns aren't complicated - its just about the fun, which has been lacking in a lot of games recently.

Battlelog is the worst thing happen to BF4, completely unnecessary and its was just garbage.

In game browser, job done. Simple and effective, why bloat things up more?

I would be very interested in why you think this is the case? I am really struggling to think of why an in game system is better? Battlog is easily the most feature rich and user friendly system I have used and I've been gaming since quake 2 days.

come now come now. If you are going to state something like 'i have been around since quake 2 days' then you canr really say battlelog is the most user friendly system you have used. Its a graphic plagued slow website. Not a patch on how easy to use all seeing eye was back in the day to find and join servers.
