**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

I have 12 games installed.

Jakku is a great map ! To all those that that think this game will be dead sometime soon , think again.

It's just getting better and better :-)

Unfortunately the game is dying very quickly, more so for the PC... The player base is dwindling a lot quicker than what I had expected, I had given it till Feb/March at most but honestly, looking at current figures, I don't think it will even get that far.

Not good especially since they just released new dlc yesterday...

Boogie2988 uploaded his review, bit different to TB and angry joe's and concentrates more on the business practice that EA have gone with.

So the player base is between BF4 and BFH, think that was going to be a given but surprised its dropping off so quickly tbh.

Shame it's good fun for a couple of hours blast.

EA issue.
dice just do what they tell them.
can have all the visual and audio but if gameplay isnt fun and it havent been fun since BF2 its just happens to be true.
dice cant fix it either.

Yeah really surprised at it too, it was only a question as to when but happening this soon and just after new DLC has landed (which imo is really good) is pretty damn shocking especially given with it being "star wars" and all the franchise hype surrounding the film etc. :/

I don't recall of hardline being that bad after a few weeks of release either...

more time spent in stupid lobbies wait for a bloody connection to game than playing. If you want to connect with your friends

Cheating and/or "cheating" isn't helping - quite a lot of people aren't playing because they can't join a well admin'd server and fed up with the cheaters* and/or setup "noobs" only servers that cater to their skill level.

* Haven't run into too many actual cheaters myself (though there are some) so I suspect some of it is accusing people who've gone to like 70-1 with boba fett as cheating.

Playing this online is like playing on x box live with this lobby thing. And it's not surprising there's few players, I seem to see the familiar names anytime I play the game.

I don't believe that's the reason for the lack of player base, people were expecting Battlefront 3, but in EA/Dice hands it would never be that. This was them dipping their toes into a new franchise before they take steps for the next 10 years worth of deals.

I have come across 1 cheater so far, granted cheating in this would be easy to do and hard to spot, the hit boxes are bigger than BF4 and due to the size/shape of the shots from the blasters proving it wouldn't be easy. Dice have already put a "wallhack" of sorts into the game, so an actual wallhack would just have to look like a pulse scan that stays on for the round instead of a set period.

The reason I believe this game is falling in regards to the player base is, as many have said previously, once the "zomg star wars" hype dies away, the game is flat, bland and about as deep as a puddle.

It's good fun for me, I'm not a franchise fanboy but for people who are fans, hearing an Tie Fighters sounds, or seeing Boba Fett on a map will only give them the wow factor so many times.

Don't think cheating has much to do with it, cheating is rife in CSGO and it's the most popular shooter today.

The main reason is the game simply just doesn't do an awful lot to make you come back to it after you've played a few hours.

CSGO tends to appeal to more competitive players, SWBF partly due to the branding has appeal to a much wider range of players with a bigger percentage of casual players.

Yeah but if cheating was a big reason for many to stop playing surely it would be more apparent in competitive shooters than a casual game where not many people actually care or even notice cheaters.

Thats the thing though they do either notice cheating or assume the good players are cheating and its "ruining" the game for them and without a server system so they can have "cheaters" kicked they are leaving the game. If you add in what JOSH86 said - people expecting the game to be another battlefront if they came from that perspective or battlefield if they came from that perspective and the ultimately shallow gameplay lacking true competitive elements and the game is going to struggle for activity sooner rather than later.

Sorry I left my laughing pills at home, the game has been out for 2 weeks. Give it until Feb and that's when you'll see a significant drop in online players or we will see how much longevity this game really has.

aye I doubt cheating is anyway related to it's shrinking player base, just look at GTA V online, cheats everywhere but people still play. It's a very casual game with basically no skill ceiling, easy to learn nothing to master so people will just get bored of it. I got bored of it 5 hours into the beta if I'm Honest

When I was playing I didn't see anyone moaning about cheaters, even when people had 70-1 scores. I really doubt the decline in numbers has much at all to do with suspected cheating. As said if people left games because of cheaters then CSGO would have nowhere near the numbers it does as at times like this when the game has just been on sale, there's a cheater pretty much every game on there.

The fact is the game in many peoples opinion is rather boring after the initial blast.

What an utter lad fest last night was. 135fps with drops to ~20fps every 2 seconds or so. It looks like there was an issue with the latest "game breaking" nvidia drivers so I've reverted them. Still won't help with the 300ms pings I was getting to various things including discord. Virgin are being rubbish at the moment. :(

Ayahuasca, do you know who sent that? Seems permaban worthy to me. Also are you sure you want to be giving your trust email to everyone by posting that screenshot?

lad fest?

Sorry but I'm seeing it everywhere - ingame, on the official forums, on other gaming forums, friends on stuff like steam, etc. the casual players are dropping it in droves due to the perception of cheating (even just people abusing the **** out of the heros) as there is no way for them to isolate themselves from it due to the current lobby system. (Just take a few moments to browse down the official forums and there are plenty of people talking about it on there alone).
