**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

Even better, so the big villain of the original trilogy somehow gets the good guys fanfare instead of the obvious imperial march. :D

Nope, they each have their own.

If you want something to pick at; the version of Luke that the rebels control is the Luke from RotJ along with his robot hand, he wasn't a Jedi nor did he have his robot hand in Empire, when this battle is set.

Maybe I'm missing something but I've head the star wars fanfare on the rebel side, but i've never heard the imperial march on the imperial side, i know they're in the little cutscenes but you hear the fanfare for your side when someone else gets the hero. Can't say I've noticed that on the imperial side.

Yeah i suppose Luke should be in his orange flight suit but i suppose they thought that look was more distinctive. Then again having him bounce around like he has a jet pack shoved up his arse should be distinctive enough regardless of his outfit.

Actually managed to win a few games as rebels today thanks to that video xfactor did, I just kept picking up power ups and saving the orbital strike till the AT-ATs were vulnerable. Most times we managed to destroy one in the first phase.

Just been trying this as well, managed to do this twice and win.

I think the days of real war sims are gone. Console players don't want 3 hour games involving tactics, commanders and slow paced movements. They want quick spawns, loadouts and teabagging people. And PC gamers are at their mercy

That 'Worthabuy' guy's video is bang on. He says he enjoyed it but it's COD...

Its just hit me....this is CoD in a Star Wars skin!

Its going to sell by the truck load and critics will love it, like every CoD.

With 20 man teams it's a shame there hasn't been a greater focus on teamwork in this game. From videos I've seen it's essentially one big free-for-all.

You just have to accept that the last really good pc game that came out of EA/Dice was Battlefield 2, everything else has been a disappointment. They don't listen to the gamers , they just pump title after title with the only improvement being graphics. (aside from BF4 where I think the graphics in BF3 are better) Battlefront looks nothing more than a cheap reskin of BF4 and an extra level of dumbing down for the console muppets.

PC Gaming isn't dead, its just not with EA/Dice. they sold out to the console queens "A Long time ago... ;)"

ITs the Independent titles that are the way forward. With Games being made that your want to play and designed how you want to play them..

ie : Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen,
and the up and coming SQUAD fps/sim currently in Alpha and looking great for teamwork. Not to mention all the other indie games on steam.

Sorry EA. but your not having my cash for battlefront, if I want a starwars fix I will watch a DVD.

Hopefully the next battlefield franchise will offer "A new hope" ;)

Aye, Vader doesn't have the Imperial March that we are used to. He has some "dark side music" but not the iconic clip that you want to hear. But, if they spawn at around the same time, and Luke spawns first, then you will only hear Luke's music and not Vader's, which could be why you generally only hear the one and not both more often.

Couldn't agree more.

Had a quick run on Drop zone this morning, switched everything to low except for mesh etc (A la BF4), reverted to the default FOV, and ran 3rd person with the machine gun (whatever it's called) and shield (hadn't unlocked bunny pack yet).

Found the game so much easier in 3rd person, and using the shield to get in an take the objective is definitely a working tactic.

My first mvp, and I actually enjoyed it this time.

Been along time since iv played much FPS multiplayer and my pet peeves are still present.
Being shot from no where by people you cant see. Spawning next to an enemy and getting shot before I even have time to react. Shooting a player with my crosshair exactly on him first but then he kills me lol.
I'm loving the game but these things cause me to rage after a while.

Exactly how I feel. Though I'm the sort of person that can put 100s of hours into a multiplayer FPS and never really get any better at it (bad memories of Combat Arms). As I've mentioned a billion times before, Planetside 2 is the exception. It's what Battlefield aspires to be in it's combined arms mode. I thought one of the races was OP as I was getting a bunch of kills on a new character, compared to when I started my first character. Only then did I realise it was because I'd actually gotten a bit better at the game. The only times it isn't fun is when a battle is very uneven and one faction steamrolls the other, even on the 'winning' team it's boring. The big stalemate battles are the most fun. A true PC game and it's funny that they are now porting it to consoles too (to PS4)

Right well played it for a total of about 5-6 hours now, tried every avaliable mode so I reckon I've given it a fair shot.

Theyve lost a sale unless they can either

1) Fix all the massive negatives which have been covered by nearly everyone in this thread, spawn issues, balancing etc.

2) the other game modes that we don't have access to yet are better.

Looks great, sounds great, feels great, plays like ****

Just watched that worthabuy video. I agree with him, spawn and map design is horrible. We need sections like BF's Rush. Maps would need to become bigger for that though. Again, classes would be nice but imo isn't a game breaker do long as the team work together.

I can't see why he's moaning about unlocking things, it's like that for pretty much every game, you make progress as you play. Cards also aren't too bad, it gives the chance to fine tune your equipment instead of running a specific class for the weapons you like.

I agree about Darth / Luke though, they shouldn't be in the game unless they make an arena to do battle on a 1v1.

The game does feel amazing even if at the moment it feels like a dying simulator. Something that bigger maps and spawn points could fix. But it really isn't as bad as I keep hearing.

Hoth isn't a horrible design, I was worried with only 20 vs 20 and not finding anyone to fight but the battles feel large and you get into the action quick, it feels like an epic Star Wars battle. I have no issues with spawning, I always manage to run for cover. Obviously if someone dies once during a spawn they moan constantly, but it doesn't happen much.
